Do we think Stosur will have the honor of being the first top 10 casualty?

I don't say this to sound mean, but isn't Sam always the first top ten casualty at Wimbledon (I mean, at least since she's been a top tenner?)

Sam + grass = hot mess.

Do you think I posted this question without being aware of her record?

I think Sam wins a match or two. Errani is my vote for first out.

I don't see Stosur losing to Suarez Navarro on grass so I think she wins at least one. I don't know if Vandeweghe has got it in her to beat Errani either being that she wasn't exactly convincing against people like Kathrin Woerle or Arruabarrena-Vecino in qualies.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Woz was the first one out. Not because I think she's the worst player in the world or anything but just because Paszek is quite a tough ask on grass, especially coming off her win in Eastbourne.

Paszek must be tired though. She played an awful lot of tennis last week and then she injured her ankle in the final.…

Paszek won two matches at Eastbourne that she shouldn't have. I think her karma is up.

Rallying from one set and 4-0 against Bartoli then saving 5 match points serving at 3-5 in last set against Kerber. Also, she entered Eastbourne at 2-13 with 11 straight first round losses.

Meaning she's still overdue in the karma department!

Caro won the wooden spoon in Eastbourne while Tamira won the title. Paszek definitely escaped from her last 2 matches but that might give her the confidence to take it to Caro. Plus she'll have had 3 days between Eastbourne and her first round at Wimby so I don't think fatigue should have too much of an impact.

c'mon Donald!
Thus far he doesn't look like a guy who only has 2 wins this year and hasn't won since Feb. Takes the first set.

Youzhny too volatile and on edge. Not good for my suicide pool prospects

Not saying he is going to take it for sure, but I had a good feeling about this for Donald when I saw the match up and was surprised people took Youzhny in the sp.

On a related note, how many courts are in action, ie, WHY ARE THEY TALKING SO MUCH?!?! SHOW SOME TENNIS!

Young's record is really poor this year. Youzhny is usually a relatively safe pick early on. Plus, the other safer options were guys I wanted to retain for future days (how often does that get people eliminated?). That was my thinking.

A lot of service breaks in this match. Youzhny been wrestling with himself as much as anything. Has pulled it together for the moment and levels at 1 set all. A mental test for Young now.

In potential upsets that didn't happen.......Stosur and Lisicki both through quite comfortably. I thought Martic might have given Sabine a tougher time.

I'm one of the people who took Youzhny in the sp. Considering the fact that Young's won-loss record for the year coming into Wimbledon was 2-14, it's hard to criticize someone for picking him to lose to a seeded player in the first round who has had some success at Wimbledon in the past.

Venus' on court attire looks great...

but she seems to be looking low on energy - or maybe nerves...or both

The ESPN commentators seem quite excited to bury the career that is Venus Williams.
