Slava's playing well. Keeping Petra off balance, clever shots. Petra's shots are going just a hair out. Serves aren't consistently well placed/hard. She's also not moving as well. Shvedova's also playing much better on break points.

This match is not competitive at all. Slava showed up to play. Petra did not. (so far)

I hesitated to even mention it out of fear that the mere observation could influence the state of the match. Tennis tends to be in quantum flux for me.

Unless Petra's raises her game, this is going to be a short match. As much as I love Petra and would like for her to take it all. There's no way she deserves to make it to the SF playing like this. Credit to Slava though. She's making it really hard on Petra and feeding her all sorts of interesting shots to prevent her from getting into rhythm.

She's certainly not playing like it.

I love Shvedova, but I'm going to be pretty bummed if Petra loses this. (Which is growing increasingly likely with every point)

Errani/Vinci in the doubles final. What an amazing tournament this has been for Errani!

For those who claim Maria plays with no Sharapova she sure is playing smart today. Kanepi can't handle running to her left at all to defend her backhand. And Maria is up a break

I think Sharapova may have won every deuce game. The biggest difference right now is mental.

Kvitova way up in the second. Apparently NO eta qualifier has made the semis here. Shvedova would be a fun story. Still, I think Kvitova/Sharapova is the blockbuster match to root for.

I think Maria's the toughest mental player on the women's tour. You've basically got to outplay her. Or hope she has a completely awful service day.

ETA: Also, Kvit's only up a single service break. And she's still playing very erratically. It's more a drop in level of Shvedova than a rise in level of Kvitova that's led to the scoreline.

Kanepi's essence has left her body and is on the couch watching Estonian Idol. Her body is here spraying errors.

Interesting. The commentators said the opposite. Kvitova hit more winners in the first 5 games of the second set than the entire 9 of the first.

I've never made a secret about the fact that Maria is not my favorite player. But having said that, great for her to have moved on from her self proclaimed "cow on ice" days to becoming a legitimate contender for this title. Most of the players who look early on in their career that they will never conquer terre battue seem to give up and focus on grass.

I'd be kind of happy to see someone else in the WTA nail a career Slam.

I can't believe it either! Must be a mistake.

I don't understand why they are saying they are back "on serve" when really they are back "on break"
