Kvitova up 6-2 1-3 on Bratchikova.
Ferrer beating up poor Youzhny 6-0 5-1.
Lepchenko may not repeat her Madrid upset, serving 2-5 deuce against Schiavone.
Shvedova just took the first set 6-4 over CSN.

And they all come to pass, though Kvitova lost the second set. Except for Lepchenko, who won the second set and is working hard to break Schiavone in the third.

As Moose informed me yesterday, Li plays best when she's mad at her husband. So maybe he gave her flowers yesterday.

Lepchenko just broke and will serve for the match at 7-6 in the third! I found a livestream that will actually play decently on this hostel computer. http://www.lshunter.tv/index.php?opt...pup&Itemid=327

She did it!!! She had to save four break points, but Lepchenko hit some massive winners to close it out. I really enjoyed watching her live in Madrid, and I find Schiavone to be quite the asshole, so this result is a pleasant surprise.

Not yet. Stephens is still in the running. Another win by Lepchenko or a loss by Stephens tomorrow give her a spot.

They both can still get in and leave Venus out. Need one more win each.

Right now Venus 1275, Lepchencho 1209(next win vs Kvitova 1429), Stephens 1117(next win vs Stosur 1337)

Oh Fran. Nice try. Had your chances, and failed to take them.

Kvitova's going to have to beat Lepchenko to right my world again.

I think Venus' Olympic spot is pretty safe, I'd shocked if both Stephens and Lepchenko upset Stosur and Kvitova. Not sure how surprised I be at one of the two upsets.

Zako finally serves out the match after what, a half hour?

(Now I kinda wish I'd had the guts to pick her in SP. But I used my recklessness allotment on Tommy, who was up 2-0...)

Looks like Melo-Dodig have sorted out some of their coordination issues since Memphis, as they just bounced Meltzer-Petzschner out in straights.

Programming note for Canadians: while TSN2 is still showing the Tennis Channel feed (with Gasquet and Haas), they're showing Raonic's match on TSN.

I think so too, but mathematically it's not certain yet. Haven't seen Stosur play this clay season, but watched Kvitova earlier today and she didn't look comfortable on clay at all. Big serve saved her from time to time, but her defensive abilities are suspect. I think she is very beatable here, albeit probably not by Lepchenko.

True. I'm also curious how many of these players (besides Sloane and Lepchenko) are playing lights out to try to qualify for the Olympics. I'm looking at you Sveta. She needs a SF appearance to qualify as the fourth Russian (beating out Petrova). Of course, if Zvonareva is out for the whole season it's a moot point.

ETA: Shvedova is pretty close to qualifying in singles as well actually with her R4 run.

Raonic hits a double fault, then four straight aces to get to 2-all in the second set.

Yeah. He played passive in first set and then I he broke in the second set, he is a different player. Now he is barely losing points. This is the best I have ever seen him play at RG.
