Default Kleybanova to undergo treatment for cancer
Everything about the likeable Kleybanova is secondary today, as the Tennis Channel has a brief news flash this morning that the Russian has Stage 2 Hodgkin’s and is being treated in Italy.
The network is to reveal additional details in an interview with Kleybanova tonight. Will watch and update. There have been no reports from anywhere else on this as yet, so TC (which most often uses material from other sources on its news crawl) may have an exclusive.
It would explain why Kleybanova has been out for so long, with no additional explanation other than “illness”. She hasn’t played since losing in the second round of Rome in early May

Absolutely no other source than Tennis Channel, so I keep hoping it's a "Elena Bovina got hit by a bus" kind of news, but I can't imagine them using an unreliable source for this type of news.

Awful. Alisa turns 22 today.

We will see in the interview tonight

Vladas Lasitskas tweeted a week ago that she didn't want to talk about her illness

For those who asked about Kleybanova. I talked with Alisa a couple of weeks ago. But she said - she does not want to talk about her illness

Hopefully, there will be a stream for the interview for those who do not have Tennis Channel

Cari Champion tweeted that she was the one who interiviewed Alisa, who was candid about her cancer. So it's definitely true

So sad indeed. Hopefully it is one of the more treatable forms of Hodgkins.

John had just caught a flash of this news on Tennis Channel (caught the tail end of a scroll about this)- and I tried googling about her with no luck so far. SO- I said to John, off to TAT I go- I knew this would be on here.

How awful- what horrible news. (I BTW have truly enjoyed her game.) Life is indeed cruel at times. 22 today. Of course, all good thoughts and prayers go out her way. An initial thought was that Corinna sure could be a helpful resource here. Just feel terrible about this.

She's way too young to have to deal with this. I know life isn't fair, but sometimes..... Blessings Alisa. Holding the light for good doctors, successful treatment and recovery.

Really sad news. Hope she's able to get good (and early enough treatment), and make a full recovery.

That's awful (and completely unanticipated at least for me)... Hope she recovers from this.
