Bali is the best possible gift?
Getting Anabel in the final of anything on any court but red clay is a gift from baby Jesus

But, yes, it looks like Bali is where Ana is peaking these days...remember when that place used to be Roland Garros? Yeah, I don't like to think about it either.

Did Andrea officially withdraw?? I was under the impression she would come here but it's very possible that I'm totally wrong.

I'm guessing she didn't want to go. The above is the official list from the WTA.

Couple weeks ago she said that she wanted to go. I think it is a good decision to skip it and rest those knees. As an alternate in Istambul, it is not a mandatory tournament for her.

Wow, hopefully Marion or Ping-Peng will win some matches this week or I will just have to resort to cheering for whoever is winning as long as it isn't Ana or Sabine.

It better be Bartoli or Lisicki. Or Petrova, I guess. Or possibly Hantuchova. If it's any of the others...

(Mostly if it's flippin' Roberta Vinci... )

PLAYERS GET BUSY AT BALI
31 Oct 2011 | Road To Bali

When a tournament is held at a beautiful beach resort, what better way to celebrate than trying a little beach tennis. And that is what Daniela Hantuchova and Peng Shuai did at the Westin Resort, Nusa Dua in Bali, site of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions.

They teamed up against Indonesia’s former Wimbledon and French Open junior champion and 2001 Bali winner Angelique Widjaja and Commonwealth Bank Deputy President Director for Indonesia Andriaan Laoh, with the pros speeding to a 21-4 victory.

Play at the $600,000 end-of-season event, featuring six players who have won at least one International series event plus two wild cards, begins on Thursday with defending champion Ana Ivanovic, former finalist Marion Bartoli, Sabine Lisicki, Roberta Vinci, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Nadia Petrova as well as Hantuchova and Peng Shuai taking part in a straight knockout format.

Bartoli has arrived from the WTA Championships in Istanbul, where she played one match as a replacement for the injured Maria Sharapova and defeated Victoria Azarenka. From Istanbul to Bali was a long trip to make, but definitely worthwhile for the French world number nine.
