I'm sure there are a dozen really good excuses for this particular schedule. But every time I see the "non-marquee" match over on Grandstand, I keep thinking of Leona Helmsley's remark about "the little people". I'm guessing Armstrong isn't playable still, so Grandstand isn't the insult. The exclusion from the big stage is the insult. All Grand Slam semi-finals should be equally valued. Not so here. But heck, it's a newcomer and an Australian, so why should we care. Well, I do, and assuming there's a livestream I'll watch every minute of that match.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the women having to play the very next day. The matches are starting only a hour apart from each other. If they were on the same court and the first match was a blitz and the second was grueling, the winner of the second might be at a disadvantage the next day. "These factors included programming for US Open ticket holders, competitive fairness for players, and the existing television window ..." |

I'm sure we all have our own ideas of how the program for Saturday should have been set up -- but we're not in charge of that, the USTA organizers are, and it's set.
I agree that the two women's SF should be run as nearly concurrently as possible, in fairness to all four of the ladies. However I would have scheduled them before the men's matches, since the men have Sunday off, and the women have to play on Sunday. Just my two cents' worth. |

It wouldn't bother me as much if the Men's Doubles final wasn't also on Ashe. |

Everything will make someone unhappy. I tend not to question the scheduling for that reason. (Other than the extended first round thing). |

The women should have played last night, one after another, on Ashe. It would have been the most fair to all involved, and would have provided a cushion against the rain that WAS IN the forecast for today.
I'm sure they didn't do this because there was no originally scheduled evening match for last night, but their lack of flexibility, yes, hubris, ostrich mentality, and just plain old greed is astounding. They're getting everything they deserve. I feel bad for the players, and us. |

I don't think Kerber or Stosur have played on Ashe all tournament. The second women's semi won't start till 8 pm (even though schedule says 7 pm), so at least they might get a full stadium if it stops raining |
