What am I, chopped liver?

I've been on tennisgamers a few times (usually just to browse about after I've entered my team for Peterskan's contest), but I've never posted on there.

A lot of people from my Texas Rangers ESPN board are moving to a board called Sports Hoopla. I went over there and signed up. Log in looks exactly like here. But, what made me angry is that while they seem to have every sports board imaginable - every college sports conference and individual team boards, etc. - even a mixed martial arts board (!), BUT, NO TENNIS BOARD!!!

Default ESPN Tennis Posters Leaving Forum
Im new to TAT, but wanted to tell everyone who originally started at ESPN or is familiar with any of the posters over there, that the forum has switched to a terrible format.

No one is happy and everyone has decided to go elsewhere. I am a long time member over there and have grown very partial to that board and some of its members.

I thought it would be nice if Dryrunguy and some others maybe stopped by over there before the board shuts down on the 15th.

It would be nice to hear from you over there and I know some of the board members would appreciate it!!

Thanks!!

I still read the board over there and post sparingly. I also read and post on ESPN's Texas Rangers board. It look like they don't like the new espn boards either and may split up to different places.

The new board may turn out ok by the end of the year, but I am shocked that espn would hire people who clearly had no idea how to properly design a message board. No way to bump a thread, no edit button (which was there at first, but disappeared during one of their "fixes"), improper post count (every post counts as two), boards that disappear, load slow, awkwardly worded error messages, etc.

Shtexas!! I knew you were here as well!! Yes its terrible! I know eventually it will be fine... but not in a short enough amount of time. Look what happened back in 06 when all of you left!

This format change was a huge mistake.. Its just that I know we will be losing so many decent posters all over again. I think Im just done with ESPN.

You should stop through over there one last time Shtexas!!

Hey, Deelia! I actually stopped by there yesterday briefly. I tried to check out the new format but apparently it has some kind of an automatic refresh every minute or so where the various threads are listed.

So, you're scrolling down through the thread titles and get about 1/3 of the way down, and it refreshes, taking you back up to the top. You figure it was just a glitch, so you start scrolling down again to find the spot where you were when it refreshed. Then it refreshes again, taking you back up to the top.

Then you realize, damn, this thing refreshes every minute or so. So you scroll down so fast to beat the next refresh that you can't even read the thread titles.

And it refreshes again, taking you back up to the top! Very annoying! Perhaps this is somehow related to my preferred browser (Chrome), but I sincerely doubt it.

In any case, I got dizzier than Vika Azarenka in 95 degree heat!

::

Great to see you! I'll try to remember to swing by to offer my condolences on the death of the old format, which I didn't like at all compared to the format when I first joined where a reader could actually tell the new post from what was quoted. But for my own mental health, I have no interest in being dizzied by the new format. LOL!

I've seen the complaints regarding the refreshing thing, but it does not happen for me. I think that is the problem - things are happening for some people and not others - and they clearly don't know how to fix that since it isn't happening for everyone. Same with posts counting as two - happens for some, not for others.

As for the old espn boards, my problem there is I have to wait three minutes for the cursor to appear so I can make a post. So, that's no bargain either.

I see they shifted the date to September 1 now. The old espn board will shut down in the middle of the US Open. Smart...

I haven't been over there in YEARS, but I started out over there too before I came here.

I think I remember you from back then!

Kind of a shame about the new format.

Really, Jessie? I don't remember you from over there! I joined the espn board in 2002, I believe. Thanks to Moose, I found my way over here in . . . (I have to check after I post this message) 2006!

heh. I joined in 2003, I think, cos I remember posting about the women's Wimby final that year (or maybe I joined in 2004, maybe? I dunno. I do remember posting during the clay season that year, for sure, though). Though, I rarely posted until about 2006 (I probably had under 100 posts before then).
And I was rocboy181 over there.

SUCH an embarrassing nick.

If you remember . . . for a while there, we were the SAME person! And the feeling is mutual!

Oh, I remember the ESPN days.
I was only there for a short time in late summer/early fall of 2006 until the mass exodus to TAT.

It was so long ago I don't even remember my days there.

I would be lost if I ventured back.
