How is "Kvitova" really pronounced? I always thought it was like Kwit-ova, but with the "w" more like "v". But it seems many commentators pronounce it like Kuh-vit-ova. What's correct?

They correct way in pronunciation and everything else in life is to not listen to commentators.

Ms 4m8 is right as usual

Pronounciation in this case is really trivial, but if you want to be sure go to google advanced search and look for videos in Czech. There are plenty of those...

Thanks! This is helpful. I wonder why then the commentators butcher it!

You are welcome!

My commentators are saying it correctly. Not that I listen to them much since for me the best coverage (and still not that good) is in Italian...

Where is everyone in TATChat?

Sharapova won the toss and choose to receive first...wonder if that tells you how confident she is with her serve.

The way she came out and stood there sulking down like grapes on a vine with no expression on her face doesn't really bode well for the amount of personality she'll bring to the tennis world as a top player.

(Sorry, all, am just really pissed Maria's losing).

What's wrong with her expression? Normal girl, decent looking too... I am not yet a fan, but I might become one.

Yay, live tennis! I haven't seen a single rallye since coming back from London because I have had the flue and for the last three days, haven't done anything other than sleeping and wrapping various vegetables in towels and on my chest, throat and ears.

Anyways, I am feeling fit enough to watch some TV today and am truly excited about all of today's finals (mostly about the ladies doubles final, though.)

:

Go, Petra!

Right now I can see only one winner of this, but of course suddenly getting tight in one's first GS final is always possible.

Feel better, Tina!!!!

When he calls her out and she comes out and stands there awkwardly without even cracking a smile.

She's a nice girl with a nice game. And she does seem to have some balls. I'm just waiting for any kind of sparkle and don't see it.

I've been loving Vujacic supporting Maria. He's almost as intense of Yuri, without the coaching and signs suggesting decapitation

Is this some kind of scientific jargon?
