It didn't take long (1-all first set) for Mary Carillo to unleash her haterade on the Williams sisters. About 1 minute of drivel about them being outside of the top 20, how long it has been since they've played, how you have to play to have a good rankings... Not a single utterance of an injury on either's part. And she went so far out of her way to work that in...

Haha. No one is perfect. I still miss her.

I thought of you when I heard her say all of that. But a point in Mary's favor I'm glad she brought the discussion back to the women as JMac kept going on and on about Roger, Rafa, and Nole.

They're equal opportunity offenders. Still harping on Fognini for being treated for a cramp... no mention of the fact that it turned out to be a lasting injury.

Franny's going to wake up, right?

Happy now? Mentioned injuries and how, apparentl, Li Na would be playing Venus in the final

I don't think it's haterade, I think it's obsession. They'll both be well retired 12 years from now, and half of the conversation during the ladies' finals will still be about two players who are not there.

Finally, at 2-0 in the second set, Mary mentions the fact that both have been injured. It only took 12 games for her to abandon the sin of omission.

She defeated Kvitova, Azarenka, Sharapova and Schiavone. Just about all the form players. Well deserved.

That 20 minutes of commercials really built up the ceremony, but speeches were kind of too understated.
