She defeated Kvitova, Azarenka, Sharapova and Schiavone. Just about all the form players. Well deserved.
Yeah, I'm hoping with the sensationalism over what this means for tennis in Asia, her personal accomplishment doesn't get lost.

It didn't take long (1-all first set) for Mary Carillo to unleash her haterade on the Williams sisters. About 1 minute of drivel about them being outside of the top 20, how long it has been since they've played, how you have to play to have a good rankings... Not a single utterance of an injury on either's part. And she went so far out of her way to work that in...
Honestly, I didn't hear it that way at all. Not even close. Are you sure Mary is the one going extremely out of her way to be critical?
...
I am stunned by the final. I didn't expect Li Na to win a slam at all, and Roland Garros is the very last one I would expect. Good for her!

Awesome playing by Na!

Me too. I'm not really sure how much of a short-term impact there will be (is there hype about any Chinese junior?) but hopefully, she'll be a factor at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Both got to see Na Li play incredible tennis (I almost always love to see a player at their very best), then choke a bit, then get it back together for the tiebreaker of her life. So thrilled for her and our sport.

She wins at Roland Garros= she's a factor at all the Slams. (*Just not the regular WTA tour events.)

Not to mention that lumping all of Asia in the Li Na column is imperialism, and dumb American-ism at its worst. The continent only has about 50 countries and I suspect the vast majority can care less that Li Na won today.

I had to run out in the middle of the match this morning, so I just finished watching the recording of the last 3 games. Absolutely thrilled over this result. Na managed to salvage the women's tournament for me.

Unrelated: I cannot believe Mary was seriously calling Schiavone "Frankie."
