I don't know how accurate this was, but I just read some quotes from Kuznetsova where she basically says, "Yeah, Marion is strong and we're playing in Paris, but I do everything better than she does." I hope she's not underestimating Bartoli

The funny thing is I heard an announcer the other day call clay Marion's worst surface.

I remember Carillo saying that on NBC the other day.

I think Marion would have agreed with that statement before this year.

I could root for both of them...but I'm really hoping for Marion to win. She deserves getting homecrowd love for once.

And you didn't get a communicable disease from listening to her?

It absolutely is. "Playing in Paris" has to be a reference to Bartoli getting the home crowd advantage.

Marion beat her the last time they played, 3 and 0. And that was when Sveta was top 5.

I don't believe its possible to make a logical pick in this match. For every reason you can give why either one should win, you can come up with three for why she won't.

Yeah, Sveta referred to the crowd being in Bartoli's favor. She pointed out Marion's slower movement (compared to her own). She also suggested, indirectly, that having a two-hander gives Bartoli a disadvantage.

I think Bartoli only has a shot if Sveta has a bad day. Which can really be any day, so...

I predict bad Sevta will show up and lose the first set 6-1. Bartoli will gift a break early in the second and go down 1-3 at which point she will mysteriously retire from the match and then in the presser claim she gave Stephen Hawkin some of his ideas about the origins of the universe.

Either way it will be one hotmess of a match!

:handjob:

Although her reception even there seems pretty meek...

From the matches I've seen on Chatrier, I've felt that the crowd haven't been all that supportive of the French players.......not in the sense of making a lot of noise anyway.

OK, against Djokovic, Gasquet did not give much reason for the crowd to get excited. But during the Tsonga Wawrinka match they were quiet for long stretches, only really waking up when JW was on the brink of defeat.

There was a lot more support for Monfils against Ferrer. It was an exciting match, but maybe a different crowd out on Lenglen too? Less suits?

Only my perception from watching on TV. Could be very wrong.

Grrr... I wish I could be watching this match!

Hope Murray breaks back - I think a Troicki-Nadal semi would be a bit of a sad semifinal feature, and way too easy for Nadal to get through...

Right now Troicki is totally channeling Murray, playing great defense and killing Murray with opportune drop shots.

Troicki had an easy put away at the net after Murray threw up a short defensive lob. The ballboy ran onto court thinking the point was over and almost ran into Troicki. He never even say the ballboy and put away a smash into the open court and won the point but a let had to be called.

Murray the classy guy that he is was obviously not going to concede the point.

Viktor was setting up a very easy overhead when a ballboy ran on court (must have thought Troicki's previous shot was a winner). Ballboy stopped before running into Viktor and Troicki hit a perfect overhead that no way Murray would have reached. Pascal Maria called a let and said to replay the point. Troicki lost the replay but still broke in that game.
