I'm really curious to see what happens between Li/Kvitova and Petkovic/Kirilenko.

Not as curious as those of us still alive in the SP

Ha! I truly forgot SP existed. This was my worst duel showing in some time. I may have blocked it out as a traumatic memory.

Fognini has pulled out of the tournament. I hope all those who jeered him and doubted his sincerity are feeling bad

Huge sigh of relief for Djokovic. His streak could have been over.

Montanes will be hitting the mini bar again.

But let's say that Fognini's left-quad injury is so severe that he has to withdraw from the tournament. That means that Djokovic, his quarterfinal opponent, advances but gets no official credit for a match win because the match was never started. And that in turn mandates that in order to break Mac's record, Djokovic will have to not only win the French Open, but beat (potentially and probably) Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in back-to-back matches. That's a significantly taller order than getting to the semifinals. http://blogs.tennis.com/tennisworld/...-cc-day-9.html

Yeah, this is no good for Djokovic.

Not to rub it in for any of Petra's fans. But I'm doing an "I told you so" dance right now

I saw you had picked Li in the SP. Nice one!

I'm trying to figure out how the Chela/Falla match got to a fifth set. Because I don't remember Juan Ignacio winning any points. LOL!

Chela!

My one moment of glory this RO was picking Chela to make the quarters, so that's one small thing to celebrate.

A good learning experience I think. She summed it up succinctly enough "I was a little bit nervous," admitted the 21-year-old Kvitova. "I didn't take the chances that I had. After that I was a little bit down mentally." Could have gone either way in that 3rd set. She was close to going 4-0 and then 4-2 up. When she didn't manage that she got a bit downhearted.

Her being tipped to do well is just a reflection of the open nature of the tournament, her good wins this year and the potential people see in her.

Got to keep working on her serving, her defensive skills and her overall consistency. She should be dangerous at Wimbledon again and I doubt she can be defending very many points after that.

Li Na served well when required and kept a very good length. Showed her experience. Good to have her back on form after her post AO slump.

Anyone think Makarova can trouble Vika? She's obviously the fave, but Makarova always makes me nervous and I hear she's playing well

I hope not.

First service game from Makarova interesting though.

I think this year's FO for the women has shown us that anything is possible.

Doesn't look like Petkovic and Kirilenko will get on today. (Unless Murray's ankle is so troublesome that he can't play). Well, with Djokovic's walkover, there is an open spot in tomorrow's schedule.
