Safarova is about to serve for the first set against Goerges at 5-2. She's playing really, really smart. She obviously came in with a game plan.
She broke for 3-2. Then Goerges had one break point in the next game and couldn't capitalize. With Goerges serving at 2-4, Safarova played a brilliant point and it completely rattled the German. She hit a truly heinous double fault in the next point, then an unforced error, then another terrrrible double to get broken at love. |

I guess I understand what Caroline is saying... how on Earth do the linesperson and the chair umpire both miss a call on a lob like that - why did it take Wozniak to call it out and the chair umpire to inspect it?
But I also thought the chair ump's reply was valid: it was really close so she couldn't tell from the chair, but she came out to inspect it and it was out. But Wozniak losing the next four points was just sad. --EDIT-- Five. Oh Aleks, why did you make that decision match point down? Down the line! |
