Looks like Goerges isn't going to get a chance to beat Wozniacki a third time.

Safarova is about to serve for the first set against Goerges at 5-2. She's playing really, really smart. She obviously came in with a game plan.

She broke for 3-2. Then Goerges had one break point in the next game and couldn't capitalize. With Goerges serving at 2-4, Safarova played a brilliant point and it completely rattled the German. She hit a truly heinous double fault in the next point, then an unforced error, then another terrrrible double to get broken at love.

Wow. Safarova just saved a break point with an ace and then closed out the set. 6-2.

It was only a hold, but I think Goerges getting to 1-2 was big. If she had gone down a double break it would have been over. She won a tight point at 15 all, and Safarova missed a few shots she hadn't been. Goerges let out a wild scream after winning the game.

Let's see what happens now!

Goerges breaks back due to several unforced errors by Safarova. They're on serve now.

Poor Teixeira really, really isn't more than practice for Roger, and not much of it at that. Ouch

Didn't Safarova have a break point up 3-1 up, too? She was definitely up in the game on Goerges's serve.

Nobody told Aleksandra Wozniak to just roll over, either, apparently.

I change the channel and both Goerges and Lepchenko win their second sets?

If only it were that easy to control the fates.

A lesson I relearn just about every week: Don't call a WTA over until it is actually over.

I love it.

A pair of forehand misses by Wozniak to give both minibreaks back.

...and that's why Wozniak didn't come to net on any of the other six balls prior to that one.

I guess I understand what Caroline is saying... how on Earth do the linesperson and the chair umpire both miss a call on a lob like that - why did it take Wozniak to call it out and the chair umpire to inspect it?

But I also thought the chair ump's reply was valid: it was really close so she couldn't tell from the chair, but she came out to inspect it and it was out.

But Wozniak losing the next four points was just sad.

--EDIT--

Five.

Oh Aleks, why did you make that decision match point down? Down the line!
