Default Henin comeback?
Well, didnt see any topic threads about her so figured i'd register and tell you anyways

Quite a bit of news circulating Henin at the moment in the belgium and dutch newspapers, cancelling her show, started training apparently etc etc.

Anyways, here are some links and if needed i will try to translate some of it afterwards.

Welcome to TAT, Valdis!!

Justine's return has been discussed in the "tennis random, random"- thread. (http://www.talkabouttennis.com/forum...855#post490855)

The article from Vers L'Avenir posted there writes that Carlos Rodriguez said he'd be surprised if she came back to tour. So for me it sounds like it is just another rumour, since I assume she wouldn't do it without him. What's your impression from the Dutch article? Do you think she'll come back?

heya, and thank you

Didn't see the mention of this in "tennis random, random" thread so sorry for the double posting. Eitherway, thought it was interesting nonetheless because eventough the rumours had been there for a little while now, nothing specific has been said. Some of the articles i linked contain 'quotes' concerning her training schedule, changing her whole schedule towards tennis etc etc. Of course it can all be a rumour but there has been a significant increase of newsarticles concerning her over here lately. (Lately as in the past 2 days.)

Eitherway, will see what else i can find.

ah don't apologize- this definitely deserves its own thread . (especially when it turns out to be true, but even if not, I suspect there will be lots of articles about a possible comeback everytime she touches a racket, so this will be the perfect place to gather them)

I guess she'll make an official statement soon... I can't wait what she has to say

Welcome, Valdis! Thanks for the news. So, are you a Justine fan, and where do you stand on Clijsters?

I almost wish she would come back, just because none of the other players I don't care for have turned out to be good enough to waste any vitriol.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Justine for me was a great villianess for tennis. But whether you loved or hated her, she was someone you had to watch not only because of her talent and skill, but because you never know what she'll do on court.

BRUSSELS — Justine Henin lauded compatriot Kim Clijsters on Tuesday for her stunning victory at the U.S. Open amid speculation the former No. 1 might also announce a return to the circuit soon.

Using her competition website for the first time in over five months, Henin said that "what you have come to achieve there is incredible."

"I very warmly congratulate you with your magnificent victory," she wrote.

Having played barely a month on the tour after 2 1/2 years in retirement, Clijsters won the U.S. Open on Sunday, beating both Venus and Serena Williams on the way to the final.

Up to a few months ago, Henin seemed totally happy in retirement too, but has not made any efforts recently to quash rumours to the contrary. Only last week, she refused to discuss her possible return.

On Tuesday, her spokesperson did not return calls to discuss the issue.

The RTBF television network reported that Henin had recently bought 14 rackets and would make a public announcement soon.

Last year, Henin shocked the tennis world by announcing her retirement while still ranked No. 1. In May, she complained that the sport had left her with so many physical pains a return was unthinkable.

Yet she was seen training again recently, apparently for a small exhibition tournament in the southern city of Charleroi, one she has played in regularly during the December winter break.

Wow, to me this really sounds like Justine is really going to come back. I can't imagine someone as competitive as she is and as young as she is to sit by and watch her countrywoman win her second slam, when she could do the same.

I should start practicing my allez.

Thanks for bringing this up, Moose This is the entire blog entry:

Dear Kim,

Congratulations with your magnificent victory.
Once again, Jada can be very proud of her mama. Your achievement is just fantastic! Warm applause to you and your whole family.

Best regards,
Justine

Oh come on guys, with the state of the WTA Henin would be a lifesaver.

Besides, plots are always funner when there's a good villain.

Yeah, I was going to ask why you guys dislike her so much. Having Clijsters and Henin on tour will for me improve the quality in the WTA a lot.

Actually, I miss her a lot, but I would never say it publicly.

Oops.

In any case, I apologize to her three fans.

Kim bores me. Her kid I think is great, and adorable. The rest of her life just annoys me with how happy! everything seems and how nice! Kim seems to be. Plus, her game is just a better version of Jankovic for me- too defensive- based on dragging the level down of her opponents. (Nelslus just got a shot of joy thinking of Moose's reaction to all of this right about now.....)

Now, AS for Justine....WELL, it is probably best not for me to go down this road. The undisgusting version that I can share is, she and her game just IMO seem to be so curt, annoying, and most damningly, joyless. PLEASE don't come back, Justine. I can deal with Kim- especially for the sake of Moose, morct, etc. I CANNOT deal with Justine. Hell, if my man were her No. 1 fan, I STILL would not be able to deal with her.

I don't care if she comes back, as long as she doesn't win. Unlike Kim, Justine's type of game will be tough to just pick back up after a long absence, I think. But maybe I just think that because she makes me barf.
