To be honest, I am surprised Cornet was as close to winning as she was. That's a pretty strong score against Zheng Jie, especially for someone who's game has just kept falling away since the AO loss to Safina.

I didn't know that stat about the French women! Amelie really disappointed me this week. I hope she comes back next year, but I guess we'll see.

Alize Has she been injured or something Madame? Because she just can't seem to find her form. I hate to see her slipping so deep in the rankings, it is going to cause her draws to become extremely difficult early on ;(

And...I just noticed what a head full of hair Tsonga has on him these days! Totally gorgeous!

I have Julien beating Troicki in my BoTB so I'll definitely be rooting for him. And do not discard one of those dismal appearances (and subsequent disappearance) of Gonzo.

And do not stop posting, we like your thread even if we do not comment

Cocorico !

(this is what a rooster says, and since the Coq is the French emblem, this means yeah !)

Anyways, The boys are playing well, doing as expected, and 4 out of 5 playing yesterday went through :bleus:
The three seeded guys even managed to do this cleanly, in 3 sets, keeping some energy for Sunday when things will become serious.

Jo got up at 6:30 in the morning to try to be awake at eleven … The guy doesn't like to play in the morning. Anyway this proved effective and he easily dispatched Jarkko coming back from injury. Jo is feeling great, he is not hurting anywhere, and he loves NY.

He will meet his friend Julien in the third round. Julien that is very happy to have won two consecutive matchs in a place wher he never passed a round before.

Gaël had an effective match. His knee and wrist are leaving him alone. He can express himself fully and is ready for more.

Finally Gilles Simon is also feeling better after some disillusions. He has prepared a meeting with Juanqui who ousted him at Wimby, but Gilles says he is feeling much better and ready to fight.

Allez les bleus ! :bleus::bleus:

Results:

J. W. Tsonga (7) d. J. Nieminen (Fin) 7/5, 6/3, 6/4
J. Benneteau d. V. Troicki (Ser/30) 6/1, 3/6, 6/1, 6/0
G. Monfils (13) d. A. Beck (All) 6/3, 7/5, 6/3
F. Gonzalez (Chi/11) d. J. Ouanna 6/4, 6/7 (5), 6/3, 6/4
G. Simon (9) d. T. Bellucci (Bre) 6/3, 6/2, 6/4

No report tomorrow: no frenchie playing tonight !
