a bit of a (quite bad) surprise:

(the gist of the article)

Amélie is still thinking about retiring. She'll take her decision at the end of the year. The loss at Wimbledon shook her hard and she doesn't feel real interest when playing girls ranked in 20s and 30s (so that's why these matches are difficult for her). She's only interested when she plays top 10 or the current number 1 Dinara. There are a lot of up and downs.

With the recent firing of the Federation Technical Director (Patrice Dominguez) -which apparently she detested ("no loyalty and respect")-, when the journalist brings up a potential work with the Federation she doesn't rule it out.

weird and sad (((((((((((((((((((((((

It's not like the Armstrong OOP is any better, with Ana-KBond scheduled for night

But it's excellent for me, as all the matches I want are Wednesday when I can be there!
Ahem. Odesnik vs Berdych? That's a dream.

But as far as Ashe goes, go Olivia Rogowska! Win a few games!

Poor people who bought Ashe day tickets. Horrible OoP.
I just got a grounds pass so think I made a good decision.

Hmmm... I thought Novak/Ivan looked compelling (at least in theory).

Gulbis has the potential to be interesting, but I'm not holding my breath for him to suddenly pull himself together.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) v. Melanie Oudin (USA) at Grandstand is interesting to me as well.

...

I just don't see that much to cluck my tongue at here.

She said in New Haven that she won't even consider making a decision until the end of the season. She said she is really happy she decided to play this year, because she is much better than last two season, got to win tournament and have some good matches. She implied she is only playing for special moments now and to compete at the top level.

Pretty much the same info, but she sounded pretty happy

Tsonga off to a blazing start....

Is Andreev in a slump lately, or is it just me?

I'm watching Tsonga vs Buchanan. Interesting second set so far. Buchanan got a break and Tsonga took it right back.

An aging American journeyman. I've actually seen him play! He lost to Paul Goldstein in 2007(?) USO First Round, so he has no business being up a set and two! breaks.

Did Andreev lose a leg in between sets or something? Not that I mind that bandwagon crashing...

Looks like Igor is done. Not bad as far as suicide pool is concerned.

Maybe he lost his arm? Witten serving for the match.

I'm watching Tsonga vs Buchanan. Interesting second set so far. Buchanan got a break and Tsonga took it right back.
And that will pretty much put an end to Buchanan's pro tennis career, no? The kid's got nothing to hurt anyone with... And did he ever hit a serve bigger than 101 mph that actually landed in? I don't remember many.

But he looks like a nice kid. I was talking to my mother during part of the third set, as we have ties to Buchanan's mother, and Mom went on this rampage about how unfair it was for Chase to have to play a top player in his first big event... I was trying to explain to her that that's just how it goes sometimes, but now she's worried that Chase is going to be so devastated that he'll turn into a serial killer or something. At one point she said, "I don't know how you can watch this nonsense. It's just so unfair."
