Surprised that Nicole is still listed on Bet365.com as she probably will have to play the USO qualies to make the main draw.

That was one of a number of surprises, Patrick. I'm also surprised that Sveta's odds put her below a number of people who have never won a Slam (or even gotten to a final), considering Svetlana is one of the 5 past champions here. I'm surprised by the big difference in Ivanovic's odds between the two sites.

This is going to be a wild US Open, I believe. You could possibly have two former champions (and former #1s) going in unseeded - has that ever happened?

Not that wild. Who would dare to pick anyone other than Serena to win at this point?

Wild in the sense of what's going to happen in the 12 days leading up to Serena taking the title, Tog. You ask me, the WTA is one big sloppy mess right now. Not that I'm complaining, because there is generally a whole lot of excitement that arises in chaos.

I know it's all funny numbers, but still I'm absolutely shocked by the Azarenka and Sharapova odds. I don't like those odds for Venus, either, but I can't decide if they're too high or if I just don't like her being second on the list... Lourdes Dominguez Lino has a better chance to with the USO than Venus.

I would have thought that Jankovic's stock would have gone up after mugging Dinara yesterday.

Surely you haven't forgotten our recent discussion about how and why bookie odds are made.

They need to get a max number of fools (optimists?) to bet on Maria. It's business after all.

I'm kind of surprised about Venus/Sharapova being so high. Particularly Sharapova.

Dinara/Sveta should be higher.

I'd put Sveta before Kim, anyway...

I would think it safe for them to offer higher odds for Sharapova and sucker more in myself

Clijsters at 12:1 might be tempting...

Great. Half the people here already knew I was stupid, rabbit. Did you have to let the cat completely out of the bag?

Oh, I didn't know. You're betting on Maria winning? Sorry, I should have been more sensitive.

Now, we know he was definitely wrong on the first one...

Sharapova has shown no form whatsoever. Her odds should be tied to her current ranking.
