Also, Safin is out.
Was he ever in?

He wasn't on the entry list and has an exho with Nole in one of the Carolinas on Aug 6

Looks like a different type of match taking place and 3 days before the USO...

From tennis week website:

Andre Agassi has replaced Novak Djokovic on the Grand Slam stage.

Three days before the US Open begins, Andre Agassi and Marat Safin will stage their own Grand Slam showdown in Asheville, North Carolina.

Eight-time Grand Slam champion Agassi will take on 2000 US Open champion Safin in an exhibition match billed as "Grand Slam Asheville" set for Friday, August 28 at the Asheville Civic Center. Agassi has replaced the previously-announced Djokovic in the exhibition. The match between Djokovic and Safin was originally scheduled for August 6th. Instead, Agassi will face Safin on August 28th.

Asheville resident Maya Blue Stauffer-MacDowell is scheduled to play Ashley Harkleroad in a women's exhibition at 7:40 p.m. followed by Agassi vs. Safin at 8:30 p.m.

"We are honored to have such tennis greats as Andre and Marat play the very first Grand Slam Asheville," said Brian Woods, the event's promoter and a local sports agent. "This will be Andre's first exhibition match against an active player since his retirement and the biggest tennis exhibition of the year."

Would be nice if it was on the tennis channel but not counting on it!

Anyone know the extent of Fish's injury, or if he will actually be playing in this tourney?

Let me put it nicely. Watching him is like someone stabbing you in the gut with a Philipps head screw driver. You scream "make it stop, make it stop!," so they pull it out and jam it in your forehead.

Watching him is the most boringly awful experience ever. He sucks all the life out of not only the audience, but also his opponent. ATP level players are reduced to his level, and the play is of the caliber of a Dominikovic-Hrdinova match at a women's 10k.

It's really, really bad.

Could you provide some visual evidence (youtube etc.)?

Salmon did an admirable job of describing the experience of watching a Devvarman match. I can only add that, if you were forced to watch him play, and lived to tell about it, you'd be leading the charge to have him deported.

No SE spots to be cleared.

Blake and Monfils have withdrawn. Dancevic, Odesnik, Isner and Ginepri are now in. Isner was formerly a WC.
