For some reason RG used the simpler PDF format this go around. I hope the other Slams follow suit.

Still, at 7a when you've had little sleep it truly can be a PITA.

qualifiers are now placed in the draw.

Just to heighten the suspense, Zuzana was in the last available spot, near the very bottom of the draw (and pretty close to Serena).

Eggy over on WTAw posted the following Slam rules for if and when a seed withdraws.

Any vacancy created by the withdrawal of a seed prior to the
release of the Order of Play for the first day of Main Draw
shall be filled as follows:
- If the withdrawal is among seeds 1 to 16, the 17
th seed is
moved into then open position, and the 17th position shall
be filled by the next highest ranked player eligible to be
seeded;
- If the withdrawal is among seeds 17 to 32 it shall be filled
by the next highest ranked player eligible to be seeded.
The position vacated by that next highest ranked player shall
then be filled by the next player on the original entry list if
prior to the commencement of qualifying or by the eligible
Lucky Loser if after the commencement of qualifying.
Any vacancy created by the withdrawal of a seed which
occurs after the release of the Order of Play for the first day
of the Main Draw shall be filled by eligible Lucky Losers. If the seed doesn't withdraw by tomorrow then a LL will take the vacated position and all the seeds remain in place.

Just sayin'...

And all the injured seeds will certainly wait until the last minute. How annoying for the people just below seeding. They'll get screwed and random players will get nice draws full of LL.

Venus doesn't often lose to a scrub twice in a row, so I'm ok with a potential Lisicki second round. What happened to Sabine being injured?
Apparently she is fine now. Her latest twitt : "Still donīt know when I will play. Going to rest now. Practicing tomorrow morning again."

Surprise semifinalist...Alona Bondarenko!
Thanks for the reminder that I shouldn't use her in the early rounds of the suicide pool...
