I'm working as a volunteer during next week's visit of members of the Olympic Committee to Madrid, as the city is a candidate to the 2016 Olympics. I learned yesterday that I will be going together with them to visit ... La Caja Mágica. Of course, I'm all excited. I hope I will be able to see stuff such how the roof opens and closes, and also how the walls turn from transparent to opaque.
Awesome!!

How much? Or is it a volunteer job too?

We are not even allowed to take pictures or even have the cell phone with us during the visit. Only press photographers.

Talking about locker, don't want to disappoint you guys, but I've been told that the pink locker room is the ladies.

Default La Caja Magica - New Madrid Tennis Complex

Center Court

Roof Open

Ladies Locker Room

Entrance

Park grounds with Madrid in the background

General view of the complex. The big building shaped like a box contains the 3 main courts. All of them have retractable roofs. The smaller building on the right contains training courts

Wait, what's the point of showing the locker room? That picture didn't show much anyway...

Pretty.

Tog, I don't think there are many pictures out there of the locker rooms of tennis players, and I think that there's a general interest of what they look like......considering the stuff that supposedly has gone down in the past in locker rooms.

and that's awesome, Elisat!

Well, I did my volunteer job yesterday and well, they assigned a pretty boring one: check guests at the parking gate. I was at least able to talk to Verdasco who drives a beautiful Audi R8 in red. I also spent a few minutes together with Amélie Mauresmo who played in front of the IOC in one court 2 or 3. I didn't think about taking a picture with her (I never think about that) to try to make Madame a but jealous

The place is really impressive. Court 1 was even more impressive as they were working on the setup for the Lenny Kravitz concert tomorrow.

I also had the opportunity to talk to the tournament doctor (who was not allowed in during the IOC visit). He said that the two players that require medical attention more often are Djokovic (he said he acts as a spoiled kid) and ... Marat.

Last but not least. I managed to install the TAT webcam in the locker, see below. Come back during the tournament for more interesting views.
