Okay. I'll say it because I'm a fan and I can get away with it.

Venus' forehand can be painful to watch. Even when she gets a good solid strike on the ball, the positioning of her arms and shoulders is uncomfortable... And when she's also falling backwards, well, that's when people can get hurt.

But I still love her even with her flaws.

I'll say it too. Her shots are fug. If she wasn't so athletic she would never be able to be as successful as she's been. I can't think of one technical aspect of her game that I would recommend to a player except MAYBE her forehand volley. And that's a big maybe.

Her backhand is built on a fairly unconventional technique, but it's usually very steady, and more often than not, it's lethal.

It's killed her wrist. Jankovic's or Djokovic's backhands are just as effective and not as detrimental to one's health

Djokovic's backhand maybe very effective but it is ugly shot to me. Jankovic's may have the purest cleanest, sexy looking double hander in tennis now (I also like Bepa's, Dina's and of course Maria S.), but she doesn't have power on it as Venus.

Perhaps. The wrist seems okay now, though. Has been for a few years. that's where I'm hoping David and the heavier emphasis on physio as prevention is helping.

I think Maria Sharapova's groundstrokes are ugly to me, as well as Nicole Vaidisova's.

razzano's serve. it belongs to a badminton court.
so true!!! I saw that the other day in her "match" (I mean it was so one-sided)against Wozniacki. Very weird.

ah and of course Marion Bartoli. But does she belong to the pro circuit with the kind of strokes she displays??? [Yes I know she's a top 20 player, so she must doing something right.... but she has the most ugly-looking technique I have ever seen].

Yeah, about as cool looking as squash shots.
We squash players think that our shots are cool
