Default Andy/Novak: WHO YA GOT?
Think this has great potential. In a whole lot of ways. Not sure how these two feel about each other, especially after last year's USO.

Two top 10 players, two of the best on hardcourts, Nole's the defending champion here at IW, Andy's never won this event (this is, I believe the only big North American hardcourt title he has not won), but is having great success in singles and doubles here thusfar.

Lot of questions going in as well. Nole has NEVER defended a title in his career, and there are still some questions about his game this season. Andy's also had some patchy play throughout this event. On the flipside, both have taken the title in the last Tour event they played - which were on hardcourts (Nole at Dubai, Andy at Memphis).

Career H2H is 2 all, with all four matches having been played on hardcourts - and they've alternated on wins:

2009 Australian Open
Australia Hard Q Roddick 6-7(3) 6-4 6-2 2-1 RET

2008 US Open
NY, U.S.A. Hard Q Djokovic 6-2 6-3 3-6 7-6(5)

2008 Dubai
U.A.E. Hard S Roddick 7-6(5) 6-3

2007 ATP Masters Series Canada
Canada Hard Q Djokovic 7-6(4) 6-4

Andy's got a summer cottage up in Nole's headspace after that AO. Andy in straights.

Nole in 3. I think he's hitting his stride again. Playing Rafa will be his real test this tournament.

Nole in three. Solely based on Roddick's match against Ferrer.

It will be tough, but this match is in the USA so I pick Andy in three. The fans may get into Nole's head.

I think it's going to be a good one... Not as in exceptionally high quality but very dramatic in the sense that there will be some chokes or mini-chokes, nerves are going to factor in, and I already pity the chair umpire.

It's Nole's turn to win (they've been alternating so far), and it's not going to be exceptionally hot, so that helps Nole, too. But I'm with GVGirl... The crowd will pull Nole down and Andy up. And that will be the difference, I think, though it didn't help Andy enough at Flushing... and Nole seemed to channel negative energy well that night. Still, I think this will be a different story.

Between these two, for the first time I think that Roddick has edge going in. I just base it on Novak's and Andy's form this tournament and overall for the year.

Roddick in 3.

Before I saw the third set of Roddick-Ferrer, I would not have given Andy any real chance in this match. His performance earlier in the tournament (particularly the 2nd set vs. Koellerer) was far from inspiring.

But I really liked the aggressive way Roddick closed out that R16 match. I agree the crowd could be a big factor. And I thinking playing Ferrer is pretty good preparation for facing Djokovic (both are fast and have excellent groundstrokes on both sides).

I picked Nole in 3, and I don't really know why.

This is one of our closest WYG's in some time, I think. I could have just as easily picked Andy in 3 as Nole, I think this is a good old fashioned toss up.

My genuine hope is that the match is decided by who plays best, rather than WTA style who plays less worse.

I picked Nole in 3 but it's a tossup. I like Andy a lot, lot better but I give nole the slight edge just because, at this point in their careers, he's a bit better.

I picked Andy in 3. I guess it's based on how they've looked overall this year more than anything else. Neither has looked particularly inspiring in this tournament.

I have Andy in predictions so I will stick with that, but it will be close either way.

If they play up to their potential, it would easily be Nole in two. But of course we are talking about the two biggest drama queens on the ATP so there is sure to be plenty of Bravo style, passive aggressive, cat fighting during the match.

I'm going with Andy in 3 (especially if it's hot).

although it won't surprise me if Nole wins in 2.

Regrettably, Novak in 2. Just 'cause he's evil.

I'm thrilled to have been wrong!

Was Andy playing that well, or just letting Nole miss?
