Default Serena/Elena: WHO YA GOT?
Marquee match of tonight's womens semis features a 9 time Slam champion, and the WTA"s most talented slamless.

Serena been on the ropes at least twice this tournament. Yet if there is one player that thrives on escaping strangulation it's the Fierce Stomping Diva. Playing Sveta last night only made clear that at this level of the game, Serena remains almost peerless. If you're going to beat her, you beat her early. And just because you have a lead, never think that it is safe. Especially when a Slam title is at stake.

Elena...is this the breakthrough? After winning the Olympics last season, it seems like she was on the threshhold, but she couldn't convert at the USO. Here may be her last great opportunity (didn't we say that at the French?).

Career H2H: Serena leads 4-3...with a big BUT. Serena's four wins were the first four times they faced off (Serena's last win over Elena was in 2004). Since then, Elena's won three straight. It's 3-2 Serena on hard courts, 1-0 Serena at slams ('03 Wimby being their only Slam encounter). Elena just beat Serena on hard courts at Sydney 2 weeks back 6-3, 6-1

I need Elena for the pool.

But I voted Serena in 3, based on what happened yesterday. She finally got her teeth into the tournament. Congratulations, Serena fans!

Serena in two see-saw sets. I like Elena's chances if it goes three

Only if it goes to a third-set tiebreaker.

Last night convinced me that Serena takes this whole mess.

This has been far from the prettiest display of WTA Slam tennis I've seen in my years of being a fan...but when things call for an elevation of game, I don't think anyone answers like Serena. And I see a meltdown by Elena after she takes the first set tonight, giving Serena the match i nthree. And the final...Serena will beat either Dinara or Vera in 2 relatively easy sets.

7-1 Serena so far...but if I remember correctly the SP was pretty 50-50.

That's because Serena decided to wake up from her coma in the quarters... After we all were forced to bite the bullet.

Elena doesn't strike me as the Tanya Harding type.

I think Serena has this. Her 10th Slam title is in sight. She won't let it slip away.

So then the argument is that Serena knows how to close out a Slam when Elena hasn't been able to do that.

Elena won't let Serena back in the way Kuz did. If Serena is gonna win this, she'll have to make her move way before Elena serves for the match.

Last night, Serena woke up.

Last night....Elena fed CNS 10 freaking break points and I don't remember how many double faults!

Any other player other than CSN would have eaten Elena alive. Save for her gorgeous groundstrokes and movement in the heat....Elena doesn't have much to offer Serena.

Her only chance is if lazyrena decides to show up

depends on what Serena shows up and how how it is and if Elena remembers to serve inside the little white rectangle, that might make a very big difference

Serena in straights... No one beats Serena four times in a row and lives to tell about it.
