Default PREGNANT PAUSE: DAVENPORT PREGNANT
I'm only posting this in a new thread because I know her fans might miss it elsewhere. SOWWWWEEEE guys

Young Jagger Leach will soon have a new singles partner: former World No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam Champion Lindsay Davenport announced today that she is pregnant.
Davenport and her husband, Jonathan Leach, are expecting their second child in 2009. The baby will join older brother Jagger, born on June 10, 2007. The impending birth of her second child puts a pregnant pause in Davenport's tennis career.
"I am thrilled that Jon, Jagger and I will be welcoming a new addition to our family this coming year," said Davenport. "Of course this unexpected but exciting surprise now means I will be putting tennis on hold for the foreseeable future."
Jon Leach, an investment banker who was a collegiate tennis standout when he played for his father, Dick Leach, at USC, helped his wife prepare for her return to tournament tennis last fall and was supportive in her limited play last season.

another story confirming it..shame, but she's got to be ecstatic, I'm sure.

Second pregnancy puts Davenport's return in jeopardy

Three-time Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport is pregnant again, putting an eventual return to the women's tennis tour in serious doubt.
"Of course this unexpected but exciting surprise now means I will be putting tennis on hold for the foreseeable future," Davenport said in a statement issued Wednesday by her management company IMG.

Davenport, 32, has not played an event since last summer's U.S. Open, sparking speculation that she would retire. Last week, she entered the Australian Open, indicating a possible return to the tour at Melbourne, where she won her last major in 2000.

With her second child expected in 2009, she has withdrawn from Australia and all anticipated events in the coming months, though she did not officially retire.

Known for her heavy groundstrokes, the 6-2 Californian ushered in the power game to women's tennis along with the Williams sisters in the late 1990s. Along with her Australian Open title, Davenport captured Wimbledon in 1999 and the U.S. Open in 1998. She also won an Olympic gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

As we learned with Jennifer, the reason there's no retirement announcement coming anytime soon probably has more to do with the WTA's health insurance program, rather than an expected return to the Tour. Looks like Maid Marion had the last word.

Well, congrats to Jon and Lindsay.

It was a good (and a very long) career. You folks got to enjoy her for close to 15 years...

What did she say?
She beat Lindsay at the USO, a la Amelie in 2006's Beijing tournament. Lindsay and loses to Frenchwomen a sign of pregnancy.

I'm not surprised, I had a feeling. Interesting, this announcment is only 4 days later than when she announced she was pregnant with Jagger two years ago. If this is it, then so be it. I'll miss her though.

Oh, and she better have a girl this time.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only die hard Lindsay fan who laughed at this.

I more than laugh, I cheer. Of course I expect her to collect her 56th, 57th and 58th titles a month after the C-section.

Congrats to Lindsay, Jon, and big brother Jagger!

Lindsay will be missed on-court, though.

Funny. I'm a mother and I know the excitment of expecting...

But I have to be honest here. I was giddy when I found out Linds would be playing in the 2009 AO. I am really disappointed now and I don't think we'll be seeing her play competitive tennis again.

But....congrats to the Leaches.

Couldn't she have lived in a bang-free zone until February? Oh well. Just a tease of a sort since we were all psyched for '09 but they will have a nice little family going.

I'm happy for Lindsay but at the same time couldn't she have waited until February 2nd. I had a feeling this might be the case when the retirement rumours started flying and there was no response. But if Lindsay announces her retirement it been a fantastic career and she will be shoe in for the hof five years after her retirement. I'll miss her a lot when she retires.
