If there were to be an upset, which one is more likely?

But Schnyder over Dementieva would be a big upset, just not as big, I think. |

Although it's probably a 50-50 match to begin with... |

Saw Gonzo's match against Nieminen. And Gonzo definitely had moments of Gonzoesque proportions... Anyway, I'd put the odds at about 70/30 for Roddick... Hope I'm wrong, though. http://www.talkabouttennis.com/forum...ies/cheesy.gif |

Jankovic-Bammer met here in the 4R last year and went three sets then - when Jelena was playing better tennis than she's playing now. And Bammer seems to have found her form on the hardcourts this summer. Just given Jankovic's state of mind, I think this could be closer than most are predicting. |
Fun to think about it: Tommy takes over Djoko? Or Muller in QF?

But as wacky as Wacky Patty is, she can play good ball when she wants to. Bammer is, well, limited. Did everyone discuss Bammer's comments yesterday on court after beating Bartoli? It was one of my favorite moments from my 2008 U.S. Open experience. |

I'd like it to be Gonzo over Roddick, but I think both Schnyder over Dementieva and Bammer over Jankovic are more likely. At least Dementieva has been strong in her earlier rounds. Edit: Jack said it first! |

And hasn't Bammer been more unbammeresque so far this year than jelena has been unjankovicesque? |

I just checked yesterday's thread. Apparently no one saw the post-match interview on court with Bammer, who brought her daughter on court. Adorable kid. After asking the kid a few question, MalVai Washington asked her something along the lines of, "Sybille, with all of the injury timeouts from Bartoli, and being bageled in the second set, how did you handle all of that?" Sybille's response, not a quote, was basically, and in charmingly broken English, "Well, you must be ready for that with her because she do that every time." Dozens of us stood up and clapped for about a full minute. It was a total riot. Sybille hit that nail on the head. |

Muller definitely has a chance with that left cannon he has. If he serves well and Kolya's nerves act up...I'm concerned. That Ljubicic match at the FO still stings. I desperately want Kolya to get it done, but I'm definitely worried |

After that would be Schnyder over Dementieva. Patty had a lot more winners than errors in her R16, while Dementieva didn't, and she's beaten her plenty of times on hard courts before. Plus Elena has to get tired at some point. She's also crumbled in a slam QF earlier this year, and if anyone has a chance at making her flip out, it's the Wackster. I would be stunned if Jankovic lost. I call her the cockroach. |

yeah, Patty and Elena might be deceptively competitive. Obviously Elena's accomplished more this year and is coming in hotter, but their record is almost even. Everything about Patty Schnyder's game is off-putting and Elena really needs to be at her best. I still think Elena's gonna win in a tough set and an easy set, in that order. When it comes right down to it, Elena's just a better fighter (which probably says more about Patty than Elena). I'm fully expecting that match to be a stinker, though. |
