Wow! That kind of caught me off guard! I had no idea that he had decided that. As I understood it, he is closing Guantanamo within a year. So, is it the case that whenever a prison is closed, they just release all the inmates??? Or is there somewhere that Obama announced he is just going to free only all the terrorists? I'm really eager to learn more about this, as this claim is quite alarming.? But so far, all we've heard from Obama is that Guantanamo is closing within a year. He has not bothered to specify any other location for the inmates, nor if they will be set free altogether. As far as the American people know as of today, Obama and his Leftist government will set al Qaeda terrorists free. Actually, for all we know, maybe Obama's planning on opening the Bank of al Qaeda, and giving the terrorists some TARP money and free housing in New Jersey. ![]() One thing's for sure, based on Obama's frenzy to dismantle America's security systems, whatever he does will be bad for America, just as he promised during his election campaign. As for this case, the prisoner was released in 2007, so we'll probably be hearing about how this is all Bush's fault. Any time any president compromises America's security to pacify Arab states or the Europeans, it's a bad mistake. Now that we have a concrete example of what happens when we remove terrorists from Guantanamo (Bush's mistake), Obama has no excuses. |

So, there wasn't really any intention by anyone ever to "release all the terrorists", because I'm pretty sure you have no intention of blaming Bush for this incident that happened in 2007. It is unconnected to Obama. And so is the idea that he would simply release terrorists. Obama knows that things like actually having a policy or stating it are optional, so the only thing we've heard through the grapevine is that the al Qaeda terrorists will be given a vacation and release in Portugal. So far as they know, if they listen to people like you, he's a secret Muslim. And so far as they know, he has a secret plan to revive Stalin and Arafat from the dead and make them president and vice president. I think that for people like you, all that is part of your black helicopter theory. You know that for many Muslims and Leftists, there is no such thing as a bad terrorist. It's all someone else's fault. Foreign terrorists should be given all the constitutional rights of an American citizen, and the American taxpayer should foot the bill. That's why Obama is too ashamed to admit what he proposes to do with the enemy combatants in Guantanamo prison after he shuts down that facility. One thing's for sure, al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists will no longer be subjected to any treatment that might make them feel "uncomfortable" in any way. The real villains, according to the Leftists, are the American troops who have kept this country safe for the past 8 years, not the terrorists. I got it. He's evil incarnate, or at least you're one of the 20% who thinks so. Let's look at the facts: Obama won by only 2%. We know that he did it by widespread voter fraud, black racism, and union corruption. That means that about half the country did not -- and does not -- want Obama to be in office, and can't wait for him to leave in four years. (That is, if this country can survive 4 years of a far Leftist regime.) I have no doubt that if we only counted the votes of citizens who actually pay taxes in this country, Obama would be a distant loser in the elections. That's why I agree with efforts to reshape or if necessary close radical schools and mosques among many other methods. An interesting position for you to take, andak. Of course that's true, and of course, until a whole mountain of laws are changed, that could never happen, although it is absolutely necessary. I would be very curious to know how a position like that would be taken if spoken publicly in Muslim circles. I would guess that a fatwah would be issued against anyone saying that, don't you think? |

So you admit that imprisonment for life is a distinct possibility, but my statement bothers you more than the fact that Newsguy was wrong? BTW, I'm fine with real terrorists getting death penalty or life in prison, I was just pointing out that it is not "for sure" that al Qaida won't be treated uncomfortably. On the contrary, I fully expect Obama to be as harsh on them as he has repeatedly said that he would be. |
