Corey Washington Document Team Writer Washington -- The U.S. Division of the Treasury October 13 declared its determination that the worldwide community of the Islamic African Relief Agency ( IARA) and five of its senior officers have now been offering economic benefits to terrorist organizations. The dedication blocks all resources, records and resources of IARA in the United States and criminalizes the supply of income or assistance to any of the organization's over 40 workplaces in the United States and worldwide. In a prepared record, Treasury Secretary John T. Snow said, "This action marks still another essential part of america Government's continuing efforts to shut down the conduits that enable terrorists to boost and move money." The international practices of IARA, headquartered in Khartoum, Snow said, "were offering direct financial assistance to Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida, Hamas and other terrorist groups. "Today's motion turns down economic stations which were getting used to propagate terrorist activity." Snow said terrorists are carefully seeking "to punishment altruistic networks and businesses due to their evil purposes." "Today's action," Snow mentioned, "highlights the essential part of designations in the war on terrorist finance: cold resources that might otherwise have now been used to aid terrorists; stopping potential funds from moving through tainted channels; and making clear to the general public and our global companions the conduits getting used to fuel terrorism." Snow named the status procedure "a crucial tool within our collection to combat terrorism" but informed, "It shows one of the various tools at our disposal. A variety of U.S. government agencies work together to fight terrorist networks out of every angle of attack, Snow described. "The resources and expertise of our colleagues in police force agencies, in addition to the intelligence and diplomatic towns, all play essential roles in this fight," he added. Under President Bush's leadership, Snow said, 393 people and entities have been chosen as terrorists or terrorist facilitators and, working in show using its worldwide companions, the United States has freezing more than $142 million in terrorist-related assets.
