I figured I'd start a new thread on this because it's just going to be overlooked by most who initially participated in previous bin Laden threads but have gotten tired of all the conspiracy theory bullshit therein and don't want to bother with it any more.
So... What do you think? Another conspiracy theory? Not rellly released by al Qaeda but by a CIA mole within that organization? al Qaeda is actually part of the Grand Obama Reelection Conspiracy? Al Qaeda confirmed the death of Osama bin Laden on Friday in an Internet message that vowed revenge on the United States and its allies, including Pakistan, according to a statement issued by the Islamist militant group. Interesting surmise, especially after Obama and the media accused Bush of using the war for fear mongering.
There is already discussion going around that OBL was killed by his own people so that he can not be taken alive, and there is strong evidence that the photo of the administration sitting there watching the operation unfold was staged. So with all the changing of stories in how the events happened; along with how Obama has consistently lied to us, I believe it was for political gains. The people are mad at Obama, his poll numbers are dropping like a rock, the economy sucks and gas prices are high.... I think he had OBL taken out to try and win back peoples trust. |

Before answering that question one has to ask "What is Al-Q?" I think that "catch-all" is closest to the truth but I see AQ more as a franchise operation officially (including but not limited to: AQ, AQI, AQAP, Harakat al-Shabaab) other groups claim an association for propaganda value. While much of the command structure of AQ cut their teeth during the Russo-Afghan war, and at least some of them must have beeen involved in some way with the CIA, I don't think the organization itself, or the senior leaders at any rate, consider themselves CIA pawns. I don't know that they have a unitary and supreme command structure or more of a "board of directors" that oversees finances, provides moral support, serves as a figurehead, etc... |

Ooooo... (taking them at their word) what did they do? Turn the hate level up to 11? (on a 1-10 scale)
Does anyone here NOT believe that, based on shear desire, AQ would have been attacking us (the west) every third Wednesday for all of the last ten years? That being the case... screaming louder that 'we're going to get you!' means next to nothing. If they could... they would. Before or after OBL was killed. |

It's a catch-phrase specifically designed to peak the interest of conspiracy theorists and Soviet sympathizers. |

In other words you haven't got a clue as to what Al-Qaeda is yet you don't even think of questioning the statements "Al-Q vows" this, "Al-Q confirms" that" and simply swallow what you are given. Overall, my concern for what Al Quida may or may not be is limited, since it doesn't affect my life in any major way. What is more substantial to debate is how we're dealing with the Taliban, since there would appear to be no ambiguity over their existence. |

Much better to believe conspiracy theories. Are you getting secret information from inside the al Qaede lair, or do you just have inside information from anonymous Internet sources in Lybia? Really Alma, you'll believe damn near anything you read on the Internet if it's critical in any way of the United States or the west. You really have no credibility since all you do is cry wolf. |

On the other hand, it is incumbent on you to explain to the rest of us precisely what "Al Qaeda" is if you want us to accept this news of what "Al Qaeda" allegedly said as being substantive. The problem that a lot of conspiracy theorists have is that they end up doing the exact same thing that the people they criticize do -- they believe things at face value. |

Much better to believe conspiracy theories. As an insult it was devised to shame people into blind acceptance of the official "stories". It doesn't work with me: I have my own mind, thank you very much, and have no need for propaganda merchants telling me what to think. |

Ooooo... (taking them at their word) what did they do? Turn the hate level up to 11? (on a 1-10 scale) Yeah, WE'RE REALLY GONNA GIT YOU NOW!!!! Oh please, Al Qaeda, you get lucky now and again, you really do, but mostly it's a parade of underwear bomber weirdos and guys who lock themselves out of the SUV's with the bombs inside it. Whenever they can get us, that's when they'll get us, regardless of this event. |
