Obama in 2012. Really? You don't even know who is running for office

So I saw what might be the stupidest bumper stickers today.

"Obama 2012". I looked at the guy, looked smart, but what a lemming.

Here is a guy who already knows who he is voting for, but doesn't even know who is running for the office or what they hope to do once in office.

We're fu'ed...

ps. of course, it was on a Prius.

I mean, I think you can make a pretty educated guess? Let's, for argument's sake, say the 3 most important issues to you are: pro-choice, health care reform that works to cover more people (implies subsidy), and immigration reform that provides a path to legalization then I am pretty sure you can guess who you're voting for. Am I wrong? I'd give it a 1% chance that the Republican nominee will support all of those.

GWB supported a path to legalization for immigrants. GOP will at some point wake up and realize they are alienating a huge and growing segment of the population. But on the other points, yeah.

SpeavaJap 06-22-2011 12:06 AM

GWB wanted immigration reform. Romney passed health care in Mass.

I don't think abortion should have anything to do with politics, but that's another thread.

But I'm saying if your a person and your most important political positions are those three issues then you pretty much know who you're going to support. So, I'm not sure why you're annoyed or think they should wait until there's a Republican nominee or at least everyone is in the field.

You my friend, are an optimist.

I'm hoping for an independent.

What's the quote, "The only difference between republicans and democrats is how fast their knees hit the ground".

I also remember an election and they interviewed an older lady and she proudly stated she had voted straight democrat for the last 40 years. I thought that makes her pretty damn stupid to be manipulated that way. God for bid she should make an informed decision and vote for the best candidate.http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/fo...ekfacepalm.gif

Or maybe he thinks Obama is doing a good job, and would like him to continue?

Yeah... Maybe the Tea Party should run someone...

I hope for the country's sake that no one's top three issues are what you say. Sure, everyone prioritizes their own vote but c'mon; if you got crumbs on the floor and you notice your stove's burning you don't reach for the broom.

Foreign Policy. The Economy/jobs. If I'm not confident a candidate can carry out his/her promises on both, they're not getting my vote.

Well for the record I tend to agree with you, although maybe stupid's not the best word. That means 96% of Philadelphia's blacks are pretty damn stupid.

I think a lot of people would agree with the guy in the Prius, particularly when you look at the Republican field. They're so busy trying to out loony-tune each other, that it's hard to see anything good coming out of that mess.

I'd guess that at least 80% of the 2012 votes have already been cast, in mind if not (yet) in deed. Remember all the ABB ("anyone but Bush") voters in 2004? I'm sure there are loads of ABO voters out there now. Just as there are plenty of people firmly in the Obama camp, especially because there aren't any Democratic challengers this time around. Regardless of affiliation, the alternative for most voters isn't the other candidate, it's to abstain from voting altogether.

Stock with another level-headed, unbiased opinion.

Which is the biggest problem with our system. Just about everyone thinks there are only 2 choices. I'm sure they are happy with that.

Sad but how true, not to mention the either/or choice we always get.
