I think they actually have until mid-December, at least according to this:

Although states may reschedule a canceled or suspended election at their discretion (or according to their individual election laws), they must choose their presidential electors by the “safe harbor” deadline, which is six days before the Electoral College votes. This year, the Electoral College convenes on Dec. 17, which means that even if states do postpone their elections because of Sandy, they must choose their electors by Dec. 11.

With how events are happening in New York, the President might be wishing he had not received this endorsement at this time.

"Think Obama Wishes Bloomberg Would Have Kept That Endorsement to Himself?"

The Marathon must go on! Never mind that people are cold and there is a Noreaster coming and they have no power and no heat. Never mind that they are dumpster diving for food. The Marathon must go on!!! Never mind the rats, mold, sewer water, pestilence. The Marathon must go on. It's all very sickening.

Just heard on Fox News that hotels are refusing to kick out people who are staying in them because they've lost their homes.

Foreign visitors have reservations so they can participate in the Marathon and want the rooms. Apparently pressure is being put on hotels to have the rooms ready.

This needs confirmation, as I just heard the report. Here's the stats that may be applicable.
