NATO monitoring reports of Gadhafi death
The Associated Press
Posted : Thursday Oct 20, 2011 8:23:12 EDT
SIRTE, Libya — Libyan officials and NATO say they cannot confirm reports from revolutionary fighters that ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi was captured or killed on Thursday.

The Misrata Military Council, one of multiple command groups for revolutionary forces, says its fighters captured Gadhafi in Sirte. Another commander, Abdel-Basit Haroun, says Gadhafi was killed when an airstrike hit a convoy trying to flee.

The spokesman for Libya's transitional government, Jalal al-Gallal, and military spokesman Abdul-Rahman Busin say the reports have not been confirmed. A NATO official also said the alliance could not independently confirm.

Libyan fighters captured Sirte on Thursday, two months after the fall of Tripoli.

Read the rest of the story here ...

Why do you think it took so long for the rebels to get Gadhafi?
I think the UAV Ninjas (Aka, our guys) deserve a lot of the credit here. The rebels (revolutionaries) just policed him up from the convoy attack.

Reason it took so long? Ever try to track a rat in the sewer with civilians?

Victory for democracy my ass.

Qatar gets a lucrative oil contract... the Western powers' oil interests are secure. The "Libyan people" never mattered. It was about the black gold.

Yay for the most assassinating Nobel Peace Prize "winner" in history. Now all he needs is a Times "Person of the Year" pic and we can have the next...well...you know...1938.

Oh well, a president that ignores the constitution for "good intentions" will also ignore the constitution for "personal intentions". Yay for internment camps, brought to us by "progressives".
Not Kool, WJ.

Then try replying to the thread rather than making a disconnected rant quote and reply to my comments. Your itchy trigger finger, when it comes to my posts, is tripping you up, boyo.

Ya feel me, Joey?

For all of WJ5's posturing... I (kinda) agree with him here.

To topple governments because we felt like it, and then claim that we did it "for the people" really is nauseating.

I wonder what the Neo-Conservative movement has against our current President? A whole lot of "extremist Muslim threats" have been taken out under his watch!
Well to turn your question on its side....Where is the anti war left now? Nary a peep. They would seem to have plenty to protest about....we are still in Iraq, did a surge in Afghanistan, still are in Afghanistan, bombed Libya, and have had targeted killings of american citizens.

Yeah you get a few....but most have disapeared into the woodwork making it seem to me that they were protesting out of partisanship rather than out of a core belief.

Which is true. And frankly, I understand why. The anti-war left has a choice - accept Obama despite his war mongering - or risk electing a Religious nutcase like Perry and his ilk. Though I'm not sure that an actual Republican could be much worse than Obama.

You do realize I'm going to rub all of this in your face when we get a Republican president and you suck up to him, right? :P
Next time I ever mention support for a progressive republican that has a leader or American citizen killed without a trial while they weren't engaged in hostile actions at the time of their death, you can call me out. That also means we will still need the ability to have free speech, Obama is still in office for another 14 months.

Interesting isn't it? Stands to reason the very thing he feared in life might have a better chance in success for his death!
Same is true in Egypt. Mubarak kept the Muslim Brotherhood in check but now, who knows if the military is continuing that. Make no mistake, the Arab Spring may yet to prove not so good for the US and west.

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/10...mic-tradition/

NATO acknowledged Friday that its warplanes struck pro-Qaddafi military vehicles but were unaware that the ousted Libyan leader was in the convoy.

No one even knew he was in the convoy!! Classic...

Yeah, WJ might lose his contract with ESPN.
Yeah, now mine was a direct comparison, not an analogy.
