Nothing, hence the sarcasm.

This man is the most inept, un-leader-like man who has ever sat in the Oval Office of this nation! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/mad2.gif

Even worse were the half-wits who voted for and STILL support him! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/hippie.gif

And this is the country I served for more than 20 years to protect and defend?

While I disagree with Obama's policies, did not vote for him, and will not vote for him, I have to say that this really isn't a comment that we should be getting worked up over. (I don't really believe I'm defending him) but that being said, really? He makes a smartass comment, unscripted, probably joking about something, and then Fox News takes it and runs with it like its the new budget talk. How many of us have ever said something in jest, about wanting something or other? Hell, I know that I've been in conversations with Sgts Major, Colonels, etc, where they jokingly brought up something or other. Who F'ng cares? Why are we getting wrapped around the axle about every small thing he says and does, when it's the bigger issues that are at stake here?
Sorry for the rant. I don't tend to watch any of the news relating to politics in the US anymore, unless I can for some reason or other catch the BBC, as all the other networks are way too biased one way or the other, to get a true read on whats going on. You have to dig through so much garbage to get to the root of the issue, that it can literally take hours to figure out the true stakes of what's on the table now. Fox needs to cool off, and find some real news to report on, instead of trying everything they can to bash the democratic party and all individuals involved, and the rest need to pull their heads out of their collective asses, and start reporting the news, instead of misrepresenting what's actually going on.

He's the President of the United States. Everything he says will be put under a microscope - just like they did with Bush. That's the nature of the beast when you're in the public spotlight, especially as a politician and especially as POTUS.

I understand that-all I'm saying is this isn't newsworthy. How much money was involved in printing this, entering it onto the web, maintaining the site with this story on it, for something as trivial as this comment? Hell, I wish I had a million dollars, but that's not newsworthy, unless I actually win it or steal it. (And my chances of stealing a million dollars are far higher than ever winning it, lol) It's not news. Fox needs to quit the damn bullshit, and find some actual news to report on. Same deal as when they went looking for their dog...DILLIGAF?????

It's Fox - them, CNN, MSNBC, all the 24/7 "news" cycles don't broadcast news. I watched when Jon Stewart was on Chris Wallace and he said that because there's only so much that is news, if the 24 hour cycles don't broadcast things labeled "breaking" people won't watch it. They use sensationalism - which isn't really a new concept in journalism sad to say.

Believe me, I understand that, as far as how journalism works...I started out in college as a journalism major, before I realized what it was truly about, and gave up on that. It's just sad that "sensationalism" can be described as Obama wanting a new phone... And its sad that there's a large part of the American public that hangs on every word of that story. I quit watching the nationwide/international news a long time ago, because of the dumb s*** that they show...I didn't care about Chelsea Clinton's wedding, or Princess Diana's death, or what's her name that just got off trial for killing her daughter in Florida (Hell, I didn't know a thing about her until a day or two ago...maybe I should have been on that jury, lol). I watch the local news to see what the weather is, and to make sure that there haven't been any recent shootings in the area of town where I work at. I might catch a few other things here and there, that I find interesting, but when they run out of news, and start reporting all the little stuff, I usually shut the tv off, and switch to Netflix.

That doesn't mean we need to start a thread about it.

No sensationalism isn't all journalism - I do have a journalism degree although my focus was sports writing more than anything and I was in print journalism, not broadcast.

The Casey Anthony thing got sensationalized just because it sounds like something off CSI or from a movie and was easy to sensationalize. There are, unfortunately, people who kill their children and their trials don't make the news like hers did. I'll admit I read about it but I read about when any parent kills their children and just wonder how someone can do that - especially to an innocent two year old who never asked to be brought into this world. It's unfortunate that a lot of children who are killed and their murderers aren't brought to justice.

A lot of people watch things because their own lives are mundane and like to see when other people either rich or not get shit on. It's the same thing with reality shows. I really don't watch any of them because they aren't "reality" anyway.

So I guess don't post on it if you don't like it? Considering no one posted on this for almost 3 months until today...

It's just an Internet forum. I don't read every single thread on here or comment on it if I find it unimportant in my opinion...

I didn't comment on the original topic.

It's just an Internet forum. I don't read every single thread on here or comment on it if I find it unimportant in my opinion... Now, it's moved onto another topic...namely the how the 24/7 news cycle results in non-stories being passed off as "Breaking News." A more interesting topic, IMO, so I commented on that. Namely, that a person commenting now how this is a dumb story that only sees the light of day due to sensationalist journalism...is the same one that thought the story important enough to start a thread.

That is all.

I didn't say it was "dumb" but I did agree that it was sensationalist journalism and it has been three months since posting on it and seeing what else is out there. I do agree it was a dumb thing for him to say - knowing how much people nitpick what he says. I feel there are more important things that he has to worry about then the technology in the Oval Office. I also do realize he's a person and no one is perfect.

I'm going to lie in wait for a Republican to say he wishes the soda/snacks machines were closer to his office, and then make a news story about it. :p

Breaking News: Republican politician only cares about getting sodas!

What's sad about these networks (not just Fox, but American news networks in general) is that they run this BS, but its not like there's nothing happening in the world. Heck, when I made that thread about the Gaza flotilla, I was hard pressed to even FIND any significant coverage of it in the states. These people seem to put no effort into research or journalism at all.
