Default LEO STRAUSS, FATHER OF NEO CONSERVATISM
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle1710880/

Religion. Leo Strauss felt most people will never do the right thing for rational reasons; they need to be motivated by the myths and emotionality of religion. So his neocon disciples, many of them Jewish, built strong links to the Christian right.

Nationalism. For Straussians, nationalism ranks alongside religion as a way to motivate people to great things beyond the vapidity of liberalism.

Populism and democracy. Leo Strauss (like his man, Plato) never liked democracy much but his disciples are ready to use it against the real villain, liberalism. To this end, they appeal to the “anti-liberal” impulses of ordinary folk against the “liberal elites,” via “wedge issues” like gun control, abortion or attacks on high art.

Straussianism requires a strong sense of Us v. Them, to overcome the lassitude created through what it views as liberal notions such as tolerance and cultural relativism.

Leo Strauss taught the dual citizen neo-cons that ran the Bush administration.. most or many attended the University of Chicago.

What has this got to do with us? Are you talking about what it says about the vapidity of liberalism? How nationalism motivates people?

From thefreedictionary.com
vap·id (vpd, vpd)
adj.
1. Lacking liveliness, animation, or interest; dull: vapid conversation.
2. Lacking taste, zest, or flavor; flat: vapid beer.

Yes, nationalism is certainly more exciting than vapid liberalism. The jew Strauss is certainly correct about that. And he probably did indeed teach that to his disciples, who flocked to the Bush whitehouse. But so what? Most of us here loath Bush.

Do you think that jew Strauss invented that concept? Have you never read "Mein Kampf"? The Fuehrer was quite open about that. The fact that the jew Strauss took the Fuehrer at his word does not negate the Fuehrer's concept. I'm certain that both the jew Strauss and the Fuehrer believed that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. That does not negate the fact that the sun does indeed rise in the east and set in the west.

I'd rather be out fighting for my people side by side with my buddies than go to a vapid liberal symposium about how badly the white man has treated the . That is the most natural thing in the world.

Nationalism is always aggressive and a symptom of failure.. It marks the end of Empire.

The Western Roman Empire fell when the western romans were not any more nationalistic. They would no longer serve in the roman army. They were not willing to die for their patria. When the romans would stand as one man and fight for their city, putting their lives on the line, they could and did win battles against enemies outnumbering them by factors of 10. They built up an empire that until modern times had not been equaled in the west. But then they got faggy and wouldn't fight anymore. They were content with their free food rations and entertainments at the coliseum. The got the foreigners to do their fighting for them. And the foreigners eventually took over.

Nope.. The Roman Empire simply got too big to administer.. They were always 'faggy'..Roman soldiers who were serving were forbidden marriage under the law.

Even Sparta was celebrated for its homosexual warriors.

From 235-284 AD, the Roman Empire was engaged in civil war. Contenders for the throne bribed soldiers to become the next emperor. Although, out of 22 emperors, there were only two that didn’t meet with a violent or deadly demise.

Plague also took its toll.

The voice of God. All roman soldiers were always fudgepackers. End of discussion.

You were the one who said that empires fall when their citizens become nationalistic. I showed you an example of the opposite. And you change the preposition.
You announce your opinions as fact and expect us to fall into line. Typical liberal.
I'll give you that about the Spartans.
And that's why they call it greek.
