When we bless cars, houses, animals, etc the blessing is received by ourselves for God-pleasing use of these things.
If I am wrong on this, somebody please correct me.
This is not how the blessing is worded in the trebnik. The prayers say "O Lord, bless this (thing) ..." or "This (thing) is blessed by the sprinkling of holy water..." They do not say "bless your servant N as he uses this (thing)" or "bless the use of this (thing) by your servant N" The prayers and blessings are quite specific that the thing itself (whether it be animal, house, barn, car, whatever) is blessed.

And God came and blessed the earth on the day of His Birthday, and the waters on the Theophany. On Christmas there were animals when He was being born.

Fr. David,
Thank you for this correction. But is it not corect to say that the things are still blessed for our use? Not in their own right. I don't have a trebnik at hand, but just recalling the service of Great blessing of the water, that text indicates that the waters are blessed for our partaking of them, sprinkling of houses, etc, etc.

In the Lord,
Yura

I think that you are trying to make a distinction that is not present in the prayers. Yes things are blessed for our use, but they are blessed all the same. Is Holy Water only blessed if we use it? No, it remains blessed even if it sits unused. In fact Holy Water is a good example because it blesses other things as well - so if the water itself is not blessed, it could not impart a blessing on other things. Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but I do think that you are moving close to the Lutheran position on the Eucharist - Christ is present in the elements during the sacrament (when they are being used), but then afterward (when they are not being used) they revert to simple bread and wine. This is not the case with the sacraments nor with blessings.
