thanks for the chart, do you trade oil futures?

btw, oil prices in states are decided by the gas stations but how does it work in s'pore? do we have a governing policy that decide how soon adjustment and how much gas prices should be? i presume that it's the provider like shell and esso that decide how much pump should be since most gas stations are controlled by them. esso and ntuc seems to be good partners since they also setup grocery stores within esso. does ntuc has a share from the gas sale as well since it understandable a GLC and money are collected thru the ntuc cashiers?

Oil futures is one of the indicators that I watch, other than /DX, /ZB, /ES and VIX.

I don't have much faith in our petrol prices, the spread is most likely like money exchanges where the buy and sell is rather wide.

i don't think so, oil prices are speculative, there is nothing like demand and supply to decide prices.

mind i ask what are these? /DX, /ZB, /ES and VIX.

know of any policy, who called the shots? just last friday, news came out that oil prices dip but on the very day, gas in s'pore went up by 4 cents... why like that?

Local petrol prices is based on a mid-term (weeks) moving average of the crude prices, rather than short-term (days).

Anyway, the mid-term up trend from end June close is not positive for our petrol prices.

Not sure why your reputation point is dipping... have +2 for you, hope that helps.

NEW YORK — Oil prices changed course Wednesday as gloomy economic news raised hopes that global central banks will take more steps to stimulate growth. Benchmark U.S. crude added 47 cents to end the day at $88.97 per barrel in New York.
