Ummm...it doesn't cost anything to update the website. But people who support zoos aren't known for their logic.

Sadly, much of the funding of the zoo goes to things like astronomical executive salaries - director Vik Dewan made $328,000 in his first year in the job. He was a vp at Wachovia before that. Since our tax dollars are funding the zoo, it's pretty sad that much of the money goes to inflated salaries, not the animals on display.

Kallie or Bette? Neither one has had an update from the Philly Zoo or the Pittsburgh Zoo since the staged media event on July 28. I did hear from one of my sources that neither elephant has been allowed outside of their pen since they moved in, despite the zoo's repeated claims that the elephants would be "escorted around the property" on daily walks.

Personally, I loved the Persian war elephants in the movie 300. They had far more bravery than idiotic innerweb protestors.
