The way things work in Pakistan, I would not be surprised to find out that their intelligence agency, the ISI, ratted the guy out. Whenever Pakistan's nuts are squeezed (well, someone in Pakistan) or someone at the right office is paid off, you suddenly get a bolt of lightning out of the blue and voila, top targeted terrorists are history.
Sometimes, timing works like a charm; a U.S. presidential visit can bring about good news. Or a World Bank loan needing passage, and the Pakistanis suddenly know exactly where the scumbags are hiding. |

I thought the most wanted terrorist in Pakistan was Osama Bin Laden. It was Pakistan that wanted this guy bad. It is an interesting situation-Pakistan wanted this guy but we took him out? It's like a guy rapes your wife and your brother shoots him instead of you. But in all seriousness-I love what the US is doing in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I think Petraeus and McChrystal are fantastic generals and their new strategies are billiant. I bet we are going to see even more great results from these two and the Obama administration in this critical part of the world. |

My guess is that the US was doing Pakistan a favor - I suspect that the Pakistani government is afraid of the popular reaction if it was seen as the one killing Mehsud. They know perfectly well that everyone already hates the US in that part of the country, so it's not like this will make our image worse in the pro-Taliban areas. Now the government can just lodge a mild protest about US action and privately celebrate his death. It could be that the Pakistani president and army chiefs were worried that the ISI or rogue elements in the army might even sabotage the operation, so they had to quietly get the Americans to do it. |

HHHmm, thats odd, I put this in my car GPS and ended up at the local strip joint. The only way to find out the true location of that cave and that address is to follow all the sheep humpers and see where they go in their search for sheep. Or so I'm told. It may just be a kasbah myth for all we know. |

I think your car GPS needs updated maps. This is not a state secret but it's also not widely known-- the location of that cave doesn't show up on most GPS receivers; instead you get redirected to the nearest red light district in order to distract all the intelligence agents. |

Looks like infighting among the Pakistan Taliban over leadership, too bad. It's more fun when they kill each other.

not like you bully.....i would have been willing to bet you loved the general betrayus ad in the NYTimes sponsored by moveon.org. I thought the Move On Petraeus ad was awful, and as a subsrciber to them I warned them against it. maybe you like him better now because jesus is leading him rather than satan No-I praised Bush for promoting him. What you all do not know is that I am remarkably consistent. Are you? |
