The New South Wales (Sydney) riot squad have been placed on full alert pending the arrival in Australia in a few hours of Dick Cheney. There have been massive riots already outside the US embassy ... and he isn't even here yet. If this is what residents of the US's closest ally thinks of him and the war, is it any wonder why so many countries are appearing anti-American and anti-Iraq war of late?
Anti-Cheney protesters clash with police Protesters demonstrating against US Vice-President Dick Cheney's Australian visit have clashed with police outside Sydney's Town Hall. Mr Cheney is expected to arrive in Sydney late Thursday and will leave on Sunday following talks with the federal government, the opposition, and other engagements. Police attempting to prevent the protesters from marching down George Street scuffled with dozens of the demonstrators. A wall of officers, including mounted police, were attempting to push the crowd away from the roadway and into Town Hall Square. |

Settle down....there haven't been massive riots and there probably won't be any massive riots. I would think that apart from a few hard-core types most people are aware that Cheney is in town, wish he wasn't (due to the fact that traffic in Sydney is going to be snarled due to his presence) and are bloody annoyed with Howard and the rest of his mob for sucking up so damn hard to Bush and Cheney.
If there are going to be massive riots it should be interesting tv though. Oh and moon I doubt if you'll see a mounted police officer use a baton, no need when you can just back the horse's arse into the other horse's arses |

There from the U.K. and where here in the U.S. for the Republican National Convention. The same organizers arrange the traveling gay celebration also, there not from the town having the event, there the same bunch traveling around. The airlines even got sued for not wanting to charter jets to them because of the semen and fecal mater covering the interiors of the air planes… |

Well, not really. Really i mean its only the Australian taxpayer who has to pay for the security so, well i mean why advocate it guys (especially for those of you downunder). You know nothing's gonna happen, its just mean paying those guys overtime or whatever, totally pointless. |

Every nation should riot, right now. We should not stop until our elected leaders do as we say when we say it. |

Err yeah except most of us want what's happenning to keep happenning...we are the majority in the world, clearly shown for example last night in Itay, after having been in power just a few months Liberal Romano Prodi had to resign. And how well did the Republicans do in last November's elections? Are you on drugs? |

Prodi resigned becasue the Italian senate voted against his foreign policy decision to agree to the construction of a US military base. He did not resign because of pressure from the right, he resigned because of pressure from the left.... you misread that story entirely. You are in the minority, Traveller. Andrew |
