C'mon guys. Laying this crap on liberals and Democrat Rendell doesn't hunt. As governor, Rendell must take responsibility but it wouls be just as easy to blame the Reps here. Everyone knows the real whole picture. PennDOT has been an independent arrogant incompetent agency forever and both parties are responsible for that. The state Congress was totally Republican controlled for the past 12 years and Republican Tom Ridge was in charge for a lot of it. Yet, the Reps supported the illegal pay raise, rose taxes several times, refused to cut property taxes, etc. But, they are always there for nanny state stuff like smoke bans, trans fat bans, etc. And Rendell is libertarian on business. Heck, many Reps even opposed the casinos, wanting the revenue to keep going to New Jersey and the Indian casinos. The problem here, IMO, is that the Reps act like 1970 Dems too much. I often can't tell who is more ideologically Rep or Dem just by the official label. The Dems obviously hold offices and seats here too and have their problems like the Reps, but it is the real crappy system we have that is gerrymandered and rewards red tape beaurocracy that causes these types of dropped balls.
I agree, it just gets soooo frustrating !!!
Something does need done about PennDot though, they are nothing but a joke....I think it's time for it to be an elected position, heck they are as big if not bigger than the State Government.

You bet. They can start by putting the 25 million they made per year illegally selling expunged records on some salt for starters. Grrrr. Welcome to Pa.

Unfortunately it seems that things like this are necessary to bring about change nowadays.

I would imagine that, after this debacle, change is coming.

Rendell may not be any worse, but he’s certainly no better. If he can get PennDOT to pull their collective heads out of their asses, I may reconsider.

Welcome to Pa.
You know you’ve crossed into PA as soon as you start hitting the potholes.

I see a couple of problems there. First, I don’t think it would attract the best people cause, with our roads, I don’t think anyone would imagine they would see more than one term. Second, we couldn’t expect it to work any better than the rest of our state government.

The bigger the beaurocracy, the less efficiency it gets--except for serving itself.

I honestly don’t believe there are rest areas where the motorists were stranded, but I’m very very glad I don’t own property there. I wonder how long it’s going to take for all the grass to regrow.

Serving itself seems to be where it's the least effecient.

He has actually been one of the first guvs in awhile who has tried to cut down the size of PennDOT. PennDOT staff hate him for that. But beaurocracies being what they are, the beaurocrats are trying to prevent any cuts and alternatively put the burden of the budget and job cuts off on either the public works and/or the working people who we need to fix the potholes, etc. Entrenched beaurocrats who are often useless red tape make others the fall guy to protect their perk laden guaranteed slow motion jobs. If he is to succeed or anyone else, they have to go right for the network itself and given beaurocracies bite back hard and nasty intrapolitically when threatened, he or anyone else will need full state Congressional backing and public vocal support.

That's what would cause me to reconsider.

Sadly, you may be correct.

Oh, well, I'm moving out of PA in a little over two months anyway. The problems here won't be my problems much longer.

I posted this before, but what the Hey:::

Snow, snow, go away,
why don't you come on a Summer's day,
For when you'd hit THAT heated ground,
You'd 'Back to Sky', as steam, rebound.
But now, I know not what to do---
There's no place left to pile you.

d'waldo

I assume you didn't quote anyone in particular here to keep from getting points or maybe even Banned. If you had mentioned anyone in particular I would have reported you myself.

What about that whole "going around and checking Voter ID Cards and the " liberals were taken care of with goumet meals and wine, given fuel for their cars and trucks" thing that you claimed.

Got a source for that, or are you just telling untruths to the forum?

Why are you telling untruths to the forum? Is that just a liberal habit or did you have a specific reason?
He's giving your comments tying "liberals" to the problems with weather in Penn their due seriousness. Dude, chill. Try not to think about EVERYTHING in the liberal or conservative context. It keeps you thinking in a box. Doesn't solve anything.
