Complicit certainly. Even venal and spineless. But not as guilty as the man who instigated the invasion and lied to make it happen.
Tis true. Maybe the Dems are doing this because of our broken trust with the Republican party. This is what the majority of Americans want - to end the war.

Do you hate all Republicans, or just some? How about the Republicans on this forum?

Matt
I used to hate Republicans. I really did. Then I met this guy named Steve (real life, not the poster). Anyways he was the first non-insane Republican I ever met. Since then I realized that I shouldn't hate all Republicans because 99% of them are evil.

Yep. It is pretty contradicting of the Democrats. I do think that the Republicans (as much as I hate them) should have a chance to debate.
Do you hate all Republicans? Even the black ones? Even the female ones?

Or are you just hate-filled towards white male Republicans?

Have you ever said, "as much as I hate the Democrats"? Or are you just another hate-filled partisan leftist Democrat?

Not quite. The majority of Americans, according to the polls, want us to win the war.

Sure, the majority of Americans wanted our war with the Japs to end. And the majority of Americans wanted our war with the Krauts to end. But at the same time, the majority of Americans wanted our war with the Japs and the Krauts to end via victory.

Sadly, today's Democrat Party wants our war with Muslim Terrorists to end with America's defeat. Today's sicko Democrat Party never passes resolutions calling for our soldiers to win in Iraq. Today's cowardly Democrat Party never introduces resolutions calling for our soldiers to defeat our enemies.

No, today's Democrat Party is useless when it comes to national defense.

What is hilarious is that the New Libs acted as if their Speaker spoke with a golden tongue and that the spittle from her mouth came in the shape of halos....

Now they see that she is a failure in her first and most important pledges having either lied to all the Libs who supported her or simply being inept at her job.

Wonder which it is?

Either way, she has shown her true colors in a very short time-frame. She meant nothing that she said concerning the "New Democrats" and their "pledges of bipartisanship and renewed ethics"

What the hell does race and sex have to do with anything here? Get a clue man and get your head out from under the sand please.

Secondly, I think that Republicans have done far more damage than Democrats. I don't agree with their policies and I think they have failed at their job. It doesn't mean that I am Democrat. I admit when they do wrong as well. I'm completely independent, so long as it's not a Republican.

One thing you need to learn is Democrats take it out of one pocket - Republicans take it out of the other. Leaves you with not much choice other than chosing the least evil of the two, doesn't it?

We only have two viable parties in the USA, so if you exclude one entirely you are far from independent. Hey, it's ok IM, you can come out of the closet - you are a democrat.

I am far from independent? How so? Because as far as I'm concerned, I know I don't like Republicans and I think Democrats can be oretty sneaky as well. Thus, that makes me independent from any political party. I'm not even registered to vote. THAT's how independent I am.

Yeah, sure and I'm Santa Claus. You are a (non-voting, unregistered) liberal/socialist. Most Liberals and Socialists in the USA are Democrats. They may call themselves independent and indeed a few are actually independent, but very few, and you are not one of them. When you exclude the only other viable party completely and would never consider voting for a Republican, you are by default a Democrat. It's Ok IM, there is a twelve step program that can help you. Its called "Liberals Anonymous". First step - admit you are powerless over your urge to take from others via confiscatory taxation. Step two - stop living in denial. Step three - read anything by Milton Friedman. Step four.....

remember IM we have been reading your thoughts here for quite some time - you're a democrat!

No most americans want to win the war then come home. Not declare defeat and run as fast as we can.

Dude, I said that I don't vote. The reason being I don't really like either party. You are more than welcome to think I am a Democrat. I'm not going to try to change your way of thinking. I really could care less.

What is your definition of a lie?
It's a simple word. I'll go with the free dictionary's version
1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
2. Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

IM27, when your opposition has to start relying on lies it's time to stop debating with them.

personally I don't like politicians wasting time on 'nonbinding' resolutions. IMHO, politicians should spend their time working on things that have actual value such as enacting or amending needed laws, negotiating or studying something that needs attention, budgeting, etc. If they merely want to express a viewpoint, then they can issue a press statement and move on. I think voters should get their money's worth of their labour whilst they are 'on the clock' on the public's tab.
Excellent post, I agree whole heartily.

Wrong, and insights like this are completely the reason the country is where it is right now. You know, there are more than two parties and those parties have much better ideologies than the Republicrats. The lesser of two evils is still evil.

Don't waste the link, Sam. It's not that she isn't registered. From what I've read here, she apparently doesn't care enough to vote. That's worse and displays a complete state of apathy in her regard and gives her almost zero platform to complain about anything going on in politics with this country. People who vote should be informed and actually motivated to do so, not have their arm twisted into it and have that interrupt the comfort of their apathy to fill out a registration card and get educated on the cantidates outside of the Republicrats. Save the link for someone who cares enough to do so.

There will always be partisanship and that is why there are two major parties. Given the sour public sentiments on the war and Bush, the Dems will look to maximise on that sentiment and keep it as an albatross over Bush and those Reps in Congress who were fervent "Bush-backers" who rubber stamped Bush until the Dems won Congress.

Overall though, I don't expect this Congress to be as partisan for reasons such as: 1) the Dems control the Congress and a Rep sits as POTUS, 2) the Dem hold on the Senate is razor thin, 3) alot of the new Dems elected to the House and Senate are on the conservative or libertarian side of the Dem party, and 4) many Reps want to move towards the centre to regain better footing amongst the total number of voters.

Whilst it seems alot of voters like posturing moves and thus that is why politicians do them, personally I don't like politicians wasting time on 'nonbinding' resolutions. IMHO, politicians should spend their time working on things that have actual value such as enacting or amending needed laws, negotiating or studying something that needs attention, budgeting, etc. If they merely want to express a viewpoint, then they can issue a press statement and move on. Personally, I think it's better is they just spin their wheels sometimes. Sometimes legislative gridlock is good. I'd rather have them making fools of themselves on C-Span that actually accomplishing something that will do us harm. We've got plenty of laws and regulations already.
