The Bald Eagle is no longer an endangered species. And thus no longer qualifies to be on the list. Do not get me wrong, I still think that measures need to be made to protect the Bald Eagle but the endangered species list is designed and meant for only endangered species. Your hatred for bush is misplaced regarding this issue and you partisanship is showing. |

I strongly believe in protecting wildlife. The variety we have here in Florida is amazing.
I got to see my first wild manatees a couple weeks ago. There is a spring where the manatees from the St. John's river go to get warm in the winter, and there were quite a few manatees there. It was a sight to behold. Matt |

The Bald Eagle is on the threatened species list and needs protection. You can call me names all you want, but that still leaves our national bird in jeopardy by the Bush administration. Matt |

Please reread the thread, I do not have a problem with the Bald Eagle being protected. But if it is no longer endangered or threated then it does not qualify to be on either lists. If the Bald Eagle is removed from the lists then another means of protection is required. And I agree that verbiage needs to be added to the current proposal. Edit: But this is hardly a issue that warrants your usual "Bush hates America" BS. |

OK whatever you'd like to call this little insult and personal attack.....how about we discuss the issues instead of always personally insulting people? Wouldn't that be a novel idea? It is not a personal attack of any kind, it is a observation. If I am wrong then next time leave off the "Bush hates America" and say what you really mean which is "Bush needs to rework his proposal" or "Bush's proposal sucks".

To help get this, ahem, back on track, here's one of the Audubon Society's permanent resident "goodwill ambassadors":
This bird was brought in for rehab after an injury, but could not be rehabilitated enough to return to the wild, so she is now a permanent resident of the center. She goes to schools and community events to educate people on the issues facing the bald eagle. Matt |

Great pic Matt. I've made two paintings of the bald eagle, I love that bird.
It is not a personal attack of any kind, it is a observation. If I am wrong then next time leave off the "Bush hates America" and say what you really mean which is "Bush needs to rework his proposal" or "Bush's proposal sucks". Next time you see the question asked, you will understand the running joke. And I recommend you chill out on the attacks. |

I apologies for misunderstanding the joke. Might I suggest that next time you state it as such when you are making the comment, so that people like me can tell the difference. It works better though, when it's followed by something that seems like I hate America. Notice I said it with a story about Bush not caring about our national bird. |

Every time I read "Audubon Society", I have to laugh. John Audubon killed thousands of birds for his paintings! Although Audubon had no role in the organization that bears his name, there is a connection: George Bird Grinnell, one of the founders of the early Audubon Society in the late 1800s, was tutored by Lucy Audubon, John James’s widow. Knowing Audubon’s reputation, Grinnell chose his name as the inspiration for the organization’s earliest work to protect birds and their habitats. Today, the name Audubon remains synonymous with birds and bird conservation the world over. http://www.audubon.org/nas/jja.html The society was formed by a group of ladies in the early 1900s who were dismayed that the fashion demand for the lacy feathers of a particular species of egret was causing the bird to be hunted to near-extinction. They formed a group to educate others about the dangers to the bird population, and thus was the Audubon Society born. Matt |
