That's the whole point. You can't choose. If choice were possible, you could choose to be gay. You can choose to deny who you are. But you can't choose to be someone else. They obviously chose to be heterosexual at least once. |

Then how do you explain the fact that many people who claim to be gay have offspring? |

Oh man, you guys have to turn CNN on. This guy Alan Chambers is going on about how he's a "recovering gay"; no gayness for 16 years! He's soooooo gay, too. Only in America. I'm sure Alan makes a great living as a 'recovered gay counsellor' and envisions a bigger future with a nice marketplace in expensive 'gay rehabs' for rich people whose religious views make them fear their gay tendencies will land them in Hell forever. As for Haggard, he shot up holes in his power and money machine by getting exposed and he is trying to turn it into a great weapon--'it's a miracle of God and the church, etc hallelujah etc." Turning his liability into an asset, he and the ministry can get more power and money by being a 'witness' to the miracle and with gay Christian rehabs, etc. |

That's the thinking with neo-cons isn't it? That it's all a choice. That what's keeping everyone from jumping out of the closet right this instant is a law favoring same-sex marriages. Think about how screwed up your logic is that that's how you think about that. I'm sorry, but you can't "ungay" yourself. You can be gay and engage in heterosexual acts, but you're still gay unless that's something you do frequently? Right? Oh, God! I think Haggard should be able to fuck whoever he wants to in the first place...I'm a progressive and frankly I don't care what people do to each other when I'm not looking. Hell, I even believe you can be gay and believe in fairy tales, so Mr.Haggard, there you go, I've set you free. By the way, he's soooooo gay!

I hate to tell you but many moderates and left leaning people are against same-sex marriage too......But that's ok, us neo-cons have broad shoulders and can carry the burden... |

I think Haggars is kind of the death knell of this "it's just a choice business" I mean my word this man hates being gay SO MUCH and can't do a thing about it. This "cure" may lead to a life of unsatisfying celibacy but nothing will make him stop desiring sex with men, sexual desire is part of nature, period.

I always wondered how the gay conversion thing works. I assume there are electo-shock devices tied into an erection-detection sensor. This is all connectected to the convertee. The convertee is then exposed to gay erotica, any detection is simulation delivers a powerful but non-lethal shock to the patient. This process is repeated until behavior is changed. Kinda like a bark-collar you would put on a dog.
I'll bet a person could make some decent bucks running a clinic of this sort. Parents could sent thier suspected gay children there for 2 - 3 weeks of intensive theropy, at a cost of perhaps $2 - 3K per week. Perhaps the insurance companies can be pushed to cover the costs, after all, we are trying to cure a mental illness. After 3 weeks, viola, the kid is cured of homosexual tendencies. Sounds lucrative. |

Gay and straight are a false dichotomy. People are inclined to sexual tendencies, to varying degrees. Its not as simple as either/or. As long as it is amongst consensual adults there is no rational reason for anybody to complain. |

-But a bit more. It is too bad that something like this happens where a peon has to deny what he or she is. In that news report it happened to two. First Haggert --- who- if he had changed, simply couldn't be so certain about it. as it is he sounds like the kid who says he hadn't been to the cookie Jar, while his cheeks were still bulging with the evidence
The other is the woman who said she had been a Lesbian for ten years and now is not. Now really. There are Gays who look and act Mainstream, and likewise Lesbians. But in the extremes of both cases (Dykes and the flippant "Fairy" types). It is hard to hide. this woman is definitely a Dyke But so what??? That's her schtyke and what she has to live with. From my past posts I think I have made my feelings quite clear that I don't care if person is gay or not, as it is none of my business and it doesn't affect me. But I do beleive in calling a Spade a spade. and these two are not exactly "Jokers" |
