When a person brutally and savagely beats another human being in a criminal attack he should be put away regardless of whether he was motivated by 'hate' or robbery etc...

However, it would not surprise me if black on white racially motivated crimes were not treated as seriously as white on black racially motivated crimes.

I agree, it’s just to close to the George Orwell book animal farm when it’s more of a crime to harm a teacher, federal employee or citizens with protective rights above other citizens. I mean lets face it, if your arguing, exchanging insults and fighting you may pick out a distinguishing characteristic about the person regardless of your real feelings.
The controversy in this thread about these particular beatings are political as the entire black community is behind the attackers. There beef relates to the percentage of convictions on minorities’ compared to white convictions. Less then 1% of white on black hate crimes result in convictions compared to near 100% on blacks harming whites.
Liberal blacks were taught in a way to believe different percentages would result in this legislation of democrats to the rescue….
