NEW YORK - Oil prices briefly fell below $50 per barrel for the first time since May 25, 2005, after the government reported larger-than-expected jumps in crude oil and gasoline inventories.
Light, sweet crude for February delivery fell to $49.90 in afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It spent only a few moments below the $50 threshold before climbing back to $50.10, down $2.14. U.S. crude oil stocks rose by 6.8 million barrels to 321.5 million, according to a report by the Energy Information Administration. Analysts had been expecting an increase of just 325,000 barrels, according to a Dow Jones Newswires Survey. The EIA said inventories are above the upper end of the average range for this time of year. Oil prices fall below $50 per barrel - Yahoo! News Remember when Democrats took over ? Its having an effect! Democrats are not allowing George Bush to do what he wants anymore. The arabs know the democrats will make Mr Bush withdraw troops from arabic land.Thats why OPEC is manipilation with oil prices. Remember the movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" Well Micheal Moore was right about George Bush he said George H.W Bush his dad is the only former president to remain friends and do business with the Saudi Royal Family. And when George W Bush was elected in 2000 he was finding a way to boost up oil prices to benifit his stocks and his dad Stocks along the oil business he owns. Then 9-11 came. And the Hijackers were mostly saudis now i have a feeling George Bush did plan this conspiracy in order to invade IRAQ just to get to saddam because saddam try to kill his daddy back in 1993.Plus Bush dads made deals with the saudis to get the oil prices up to benifit his stocks in exchange to protect saudi arabia intrests and protect saudi security from their enemies.Last year there was a man campaigning "" PAIN AT THE PUMPS= PAIN AT THE POLLS"" Thats why i voted for democrats straght down the line last november because republicans have pisssed me off! And it worked. Now we have the democrats in total control of the house and senate and they will not allow mr bush to do what he wants anymore..And theyre gonna stop funding for this war. Now i used to be a fan of Rush Limbaugh but NOT ANYMORE!!! I think now Rush Limbaugh is a bullshit con artist to get what he wants.I used to belive what Rush said about the democrats but now i know the real truth about the republicans. The Repubicans are for the wealthy and Big Oil profits.Democrats are for the Little people.Ordinary People like you and me.Mr Bush only gave tax breaks for the wealthy and Big Oil CEOs like Exxon & Mobil. Like Exxon & Mobil excutives gave a 15 million dollar retirement check to the CEO. And Now oil prices are on the decline since the election was a victory for the democrats.I think No Republican should ever be in power ever again cause we simply cannot trust them because of George Bush. |

Oh so now the Democrats are in power the price of oil is going to mysteriously drop? Perhaps they're working for big oil all along; I mean if their mere presence in congress can lower oil prices surely something must be afoot.
On a side note this has been one of the warmest winters in recorded history leading to a dramatic decline in the consumption of oil. But aren't we causing this global warming? Shouldn't I want it to be colder? I'm so conflicted. Varus |

Wanna get gas prices down? ELIMINATE THE GAS TAX!!! And Raise taxes on the wealthy and Raise toll roads prices. What's sad is if they actually had any aspirations of being wealthy they wouldn't feel this way. What does this tell you about this person? Varus |

Expect prices to go up, possibly drastically. The House democrats are passing legislation today that will increase costs to the oil industry which will be passed down to consumers as always. It will also discourage domestic oil exploration. This is of course if the Senate passes and Bush signs.

The costs of the Iraq war should be partially (perhaps 50%) paid for with gasoline taxes. Anyone who thinks oil had nothing to do with our adventures in the middle east is nuts (IMO). |
