But not today.Dems are planning to close that loophole. And if anybody goes and cross the border to sneak into canada theyre be FBI agents waiting for them to arrest them and its a 20 year prison sentence for deserting from the draft.
You don't seriously think there'll be a draft, do you?

A better solution, I think, would be to tell the oil majors that their profit margin will no longer be defended by US soldiers.
Pogo, you've made more sense than the rest of these knuckleheads combined!

Are profits that depend on subsidization really profits, or are they subsidies masquerading as profits?

Seems to me that Exxon-Mobil is the world's largest welfare queen.

Expect prices to go up, possibly drastically. The House democrats are passing legislation today that will increase costs to the oil industry which will be passed down to consumers as always. It will also discourage domestic oil exploration. This is of course if the Senate passes and Bush signs.

Search Results - THOMAS (Library of Congress)

And for you neolibs who prefer to be told what to think - House Democrats target Big Oil with higher fees, taxes - CNN.com
How about subsidies? Taking them away will produce the same outcome. It will decrease the amount going to the bottom line and discourage domestic oil exploration. Or are you in favor of welfare?

This is all VEEEERRRRRRRY interesting , considering that no one seems to even be considering reenstatement of the draft.

Not at all. I dont think the oil companies, or any business should have ever gotten subsidies. Im simply pointing out that increasing the cost for oil companies to do business will only hurt the consumer, not the business. A more fair approach would be to eliminate subsidies and at the same time, regulations which cost the oil companies. This makes it a win win for all. The dems however, are simply using political manuevering to take advantage of consumer ignorance. They want us to beleieve that they are sticking it to big oil, when in fact, theyre sticking it to the little guy.

You do realize that Democrats have millions of dollars? They are exactly who you claim ARNT real americans. Just a sample:

Hillary - 3 million
Pelosi - 25 million
Reid - 1.5 milllion
Obama - 1.3 million

Lets not forget Kerry at 164mil. Ted Kennedy? Millionaire.

Remember in the movie Back to the Future when the Delorean needed more fuel, so Doc threw in a bunch of trash like banana peels and Pepsi?

We've got trash being recycled and no more need for gas. Environmental issues solved. Too bad it's only a movie.

It's not regs that are keeping the price at $2.55 when that was the price of gas at $70 a barrel as well....
Uh yeah, it pretty much is.
And I kinda like being protected from harmful environmental hazards that cause cancer.
You mean "are suspected to increase the risk of cancer" dont you?

Leaving that aside, you're not "protected" from anything. When you understand why, you will have begun the journey to becoming someone I may one day respect.

Nah - not all of em. Fact is, the Democrats do have far more of the wealth when it comes to politicians.

You really seem to have something against those who are more financially successful than you.

Why dont you become an inventer to solve our evoinmental problems? All you have to do is put your mind in use and create stuff and then experment things. Just like they can burn trash to make electricy.

One company, Changing World technologies, claims they can turn trash into fuel.

http://www.changingworldtech.com/what/products.asp

Waste generated by agricultural food processors has traditionally been transported to rendering facilities where it is ground, processed, and dried to make animal feed, fertilizer, and other chemical products. In the past several years, there has been extensive concern about using processed animal matter as a feed supplement for animals that are destined for human consumption. The TCP, however, transforms these waste streams into renewable sources of oil to fuel our transportation, electricity, and heating requirements. In addition, the mineral residual from natural organic waste has the potential for fertilizer applications.

FUELS/OILS (RENEWABLE DIESEL)

The TCP produces different quality fuels from different parts of the bio-refinery. This is no different than traditional petroleum refining facilities. It has been confirmed by a large utility company that the produced renewable diesel can be run as a straight, unblended low-sulfur fuel oil. The first applications of TCP fuels are destined for use in boilers for heating and turbines for electrical power generation. The future holds promise to upgrade into transportation fuels.
Powering a DeLorean from banana peels and pepsi bottles may not be such an outrageous prospect after all...

Nah - not all of em. Fact is, the Democrats do have far more of the wealth when it comes to politicians.
4 of the 5 richest congressmen are Democrats according to their financial disclosure reports.

You really seem to have something against those who are more financially successful than you.
I agree, her regular fits of envy point to some kind of obsession with class warfare and a lack of understanding of macroeconomics.

It's not envy. See, what you guys do not understand is I am not angry. I am speaking logically and you always mistake it for emotional tirade. I believe there is an unhealthy imbalance between the worker and employer in a lot of cases. I also think that production has not caught up with wages and that free enterprise is taken way too far when you start price gouging and overcharging for necessities resulting in extortion. Not good. This isn't about who is PERSONALLY rich and invests, who owns a company or whatever. I don't give two shits. What I believe has nothing to do with envy.
