How does any of this (the school part) relate to privatization of schools/education though?
With a voucher system the individual will be free to spend the government provided money on any school they choose (including private schools). Since private schools regularly out perform public schools in educational services there would be a huge growth in private schools as students are allowed to attend the best producing schools.

You do realze that this will rise taxes? Besides, in Bush's No Child policy, the public schools are paying for the vouchers.
I'm not talking about 'No Child left behind' I'm talking about a true voucher system.

And no it won't raise taxes because private schools function on a much more efficient budget then any public school anywhere in the country.

Okay ... but if it wasn't mandatory, how would the government get money for social security programs which IMO are needed for some people?
If it wasn't mandatory who in their right mind would invest money at a lost into social security.

In your opinion who are those that need social security?

In essence, more competition between schools as you stated at no apparent cost to the student (key word being apparent).

Where would the government get this extra $$ from though?
What extra money would be required? If the student is simply taking the money that is already spent on him in a public school with him to another location what extra money is being spent. All you are doing is taking the already existing public school funds spent on each student and giving that student the choice of where to take those already existing funds.

And thats exactly why I asked the question - where would the government get it's money for social security from? Whats your answer?

The disabled. Those that can't work due to a debilitating illness, perhaps an injury sustained on the job. Chronically depressed people. Those with chronic fatigue syndrome. Just for starters.
I believe a basic, low cost insurance package could cover all of those.

You could easily invest the money you are wasting on social security and get a MUCH better return on that investment as I already stated and you ignored.
