One reason to support the bill, if you are a representative of Nevada, is to limit the competition to the main industry of your own home state.

ahagotyou 01-10-2006 08:04 AM

Let me guess, all those who gamble on wall street are immune to this bullshit legislation.

Geez, Congress is pumping out shitty bills like a shit fountain. What exactly is the reason for this bill?
To control our lives some more.

Unregulated gambiling operations that could defraud the consumer.
That's why.

If anyone enjoyed gambiling online I'll take your credit card and you can call me. You guess a card and I'll tell you if it's right or not.http://www.uspoliticsonline.net/imag...lies/smile.gif

Follow the money, internet gambling companies don't have to pay taxes, they don't need to get licenses, they don't need to hire Jack Abramoff to bribe politicians.

No one can ban internet gambling, all they can do is try to make it difficult enough that the internet gambling companies figure out it's cheaper to cut the politicians in.

funnyPasds 01-10-2006 04:32 PM

Another stupid law that will only enhance the 'coolness' of online gambling. What a bunch of dummies.....The legislation should make it legal and taxable. Some idiots never learn, we call these people politicians.

How you gonna tax companies that aren't in the US?

corolaelwis 01-10-2006 06:52 PM

Brilliant law, this will help stop huge amounts of rakateering/fraud and so on.

Unless you've actually gambled online (which i haven't on U.S. soil) you won't realise what problems could arise, this is an outstanding bill and if anything needs to be even tougher. http://www.uspoliticsonline.net/imag...s/thumbup1.gif

easy - all transactions that are generated from a US citizens should be taxable. Most of the dummies who gamble online are using credit cards from US banks anyway. Track it and make 'em pay.

welcome to captialism http://www.uspoliticsonline.net/imag...lies/smile.gif At any rate, I don't gamble on wall street. I invest in highly regulated and controlled markets. The strategy that I use is called buy and hold. I buy good companies and hold their stock for a long long time. I am not a trader or gambler. BTW, if you are an idiot and want to gamble with securities- you can do it on the commodities exchanges (with extreme leverage) far easier than with stocks.

You're asking credit card companies to spend money to audit every single transaction, sort them based on charges generated inside the US, verify it's a gambling company, and then tax the transaction and pay the IRS the amount for each individual. So if I go gamble the credit card company has to know what the transaction is for....forget it because its so unrealistic anyway. Credit card companies are not going to spend millions and hire a army of coder's trying to keep up with this in their accounting system not even mentioning the millions lost in fraud from these businesses.

lol, You don't know shit biggy. The transactions are easy to track. Computers already do it now.

Oh, nice rebuttal.
Alex, you definitely don't know shit about accounting and the IRS. Thinking international gambling is the responsibility of credit card companies for taxing reasons is for the retarded. You going to have the IRS fine credit card companies for fucking up my gambling transactions?

You didn't quite think this all the way through did you.

kranfid 01-10-2006 08:54 PM

This makes the business difficult, consider the following scenario.
I go online win, and I get a credit on my card. OK

I go online, and lose, I call my credit card company and tell them not to honor the charge, because it's for gambling.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I used to work for a credit card company. These types of transactions are extremely simple to track.

BTW, are you online gambler? that would explain alot. Ya know, alot of really stupid idiots gamble, but the worst, most degenerate, hopeless gamblers do it online.

Gambling is the idiots tax system. No I do not. I'm software engineer for a fortune 500 company that gets contracts to design systems for merchants so I DO know what I'm talking about. Transactions are recorded by merchants and fee is involved for each transaction.

Where you've yet to explain yourself is the taxing of internet gambling and how it would be done other than just saying "transactions are tracked". If it was that simple the federal government would already be taxing for online purchases, which it isn't. There are over a thousand internet gambiling sites right now all over the world and your proposal is to put the tax bookkeeping burden on the credit card companies, which requires major coding changes, an internal audit system, accounting procedures to track the locations, how much, where, and provide all this information to the IRS. I won't even get into the credit card company giving your name to the federal government that you've been gambling, unless your proposing some gross amount which doesn't help things for them.

Either way it's a unrealistic idea, mainly that credit card companies wouldn't do tax babysitting for your internet habits as they won't do now.

It's much more than logging a transaction. There's my reply, prove me wrong.

Agreed. Simpletons and morons everywhere need the government to tell them what is safe and what is stupidly dangerous. http://www.uspoliticsonline.net/imag...lies/smile.gif

im sick of all these limitations, if people are stupid enough to gamble on line they have every right to do it, its their choice, now they dont have that choice anymore. America puts all this hype out about how america is all about freedom, we have lost our bragging rights. America prided itself on cultural and religious unbias, yet we let a bunch of christian lobbiests push through a religously biased bill, we lost our bragging rights there too. For those who say now these companies wont be able to fraud people anymore. well now the people will have to go through illegal gambling companies, and they will, that will screw them over even more.
So america, what do we stand for anymore. Just one more point for big brother.

qQVXpYM6 01-11-2006 02:01 AM

I think we should also have a law banning the drinking of motor oil. You know, because retards like the people who support this bill might do it if the government doesn't tell them it is bad.
