Is congressional visitor logs public? Including meetings outside Washington?
Just wandering....

Because I think it is much ado about nothing, there must be something wrong with me? Funny.

Since when do vistor's logs detail what the visit was about, and why should they.??
And If they don't, then people nosing about in them are simply curious (that's OK) or perhaps "troublemakers" (and that's NOT OK)

You don't always have to know exactly what happened to know why someone visited.

Hypothetical:

Let's say I'm president, and the head of the Smurf Lobby comes and visits me, the next day I come out with all kinds of pro-smurf initiatives that are NOT the will of the majority leprechaun population.

Something up? Who knows, because my records are closed.

I have no idea... it should be. At least the ones in Washington.

It sounds to me that this is just another attempt to undermine the authority of the Executive Branch by chipping away at the edges and then building precedence to go after more significant chunks. Does anyone know for sure if Congressional visitor logs and SCOTUS visitor logs are also subject to the same level of scrutiny that is being asked of the Whitehouse?

Call me old-fashioned, but I would have ruled that Nixon should have been able to keep his tapes private, as well.

Whatever Nixon did in the privacy of his own home is one thing. What he did in the White House as my employee is completely different. Same holds true for every other person that we have entrusted to lead our nation. Coming from a president whose integrity is being questioned on a nearly daily basis, I would expect he'd have the common sense to show a little transparency, unless he really has got something to hide..

I'll tell you what. If you want to debate this, I'll start a new thread just for that topic. OK?

ah here we come to it. The liberals, cooperating with the media, have been questioning W's integrity since day 1. How is this any different?

and oddly enough you can't seem to apply this same formula when Taliban leaders met with Saddams top advisors prior to 911.

After 9-11 Dubya's integrity was above reproach. He was practically untouchable until he decided to squander our trust by having us go into Iraq. Who's fault is it that Bush's credibility is now in constant question?

The CIA? Hans Blix? The UN? Saddam Hussein?

Now that the Democrats have subpoena power, we may find out a lot of things the Bush Whitehouse has been hiding, including failure to disclose documents.

I know you don't intent it to be so, but you seem to be arguing with yourself. However, The way to find out what is up, is at the meeting, not thru the visitor logs.

The comings and goings of folks to the President's home are no business of anyone. I wonder why the records were kept in the first place? Probably a part of the vast left wing conspiracy.

For the most part, his credibility is only in question by paranoid freako conspiracy therorists. You know, people who fail to apply skepticism and critical thinking before believing any far-out rumors that pinkopressco insinuates no matter how unsubstantiated.

So nobody knows if Congressional records are also public?

Only reason I ask is talk about pot calling the kettle black.

Can the democrat majority do anything about getting the records made public? Or are we shit outta luck and the President is now the King?
I doubt it. Probably about as much chance of getting Dubya's Texas Governor records unsealed from daddy's library vault.

That means nothing.

I work in the music industry, and have met a lot of very famous musicians. I have photos on my wall in my home office which show me standing with them. Some I have gotten to know, but most I have not.

I can guarantee you that a lot of the people in those pictures wouldn't know me if they fell on me...
