I'm in a 26 story building in Newark NJ and folks are voluntarily evacuating right now. Thing shook like a bomb hit it. Sirens going off all over town.

I don't much see the sense in going down and standing in the street next to a 26 story building so I'm gonna stay put for now.

Some congressman must have told the truth and the earth just couldn't stand the shock.

From what I've been reading it seems like it was felt all along the east coast.....weird, I always thought California was going to be the one to fall off into the ocean.

People are telling me they felt it in Eastern Massachusetts and Concord NH. Or possible aftershocks.

It shook like crazy where I am. Loud rumble, glasses in the cabinet rattling. Enough to run the hell outside..

Changed thread title to Virigina quake. Seems it was a 5.9 magnitude quake over 3 miles beneath Mineral Virignina.

Folks all over the East cost thought there may have been bombing in or nearby their buildings.

DC seemingly keeping people out of subway until inspections can be made, same with many buildings.

There is a report there is concern the Washington monument may be tipping.

Quake sparked evacuations in Canada as well.

No, its been renamed to the Tea Party's Fault. God is pissed. He left it up to us to care for the poor.

On a more informative note, some general information on the seismic state of Virginia.

I heard them saying that on the news, "people were concerned, being that we're so close to 9/11 as to what it could have been.."

Never even entered my mind. My thought process went from "huge construction truck driving by" to "earthquake" pretty quickly.

It would seem that the only casualty is the underwear of the easily startled.

But they had to know their days where numbered anyway.

Actually I ate Mexican for lunch. Never mind that hole in the seat. Nothing to see here move along.

Isn't there a Bill in the House to rename that "Obama's Fault"?

You can almost hear the Sunday sermons being written about God shaking things up in Washington. Letterman will likely blame it on Leno tonight.

Kind of amazing if it really was felt in Detroit, no effect here in Texas except continuing triple digit heat and drought.
